HomeMy WebLinkAbout2025-11-10 - HPCHistorical Preservation Committee Minutes November tO,2025 CATT TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:04am by Suzy McCormick at the Heritage Museum, Euless. Ms, McCormick introduced and welcomed three new members and asked all attendees to introduce themselves. MEMBERS PRESENT Patsy HooveL Mary Hunt, Keith Jernigan, Suzy McCormick, Anniece McKanna, James Park, Jud Park, Linda Pool, Joe Robinson, Norma Runyon, Faye Stinneford, and Mavy Wright. NEW MEMBERS: Brandon Van Wyk, Amy Mclntyre, and Negin Pahlavan. STAFF PRESENT Parks and Community Services Director - Duane Strawn; Jodie Dunn - PACS Administrative Assistant VISITORS PRESENT None APPROVAT OF MINUTES The minutes from May, June, September and October had been postponed due to a lack of quorum. After discussion, a motion was made to approve the minutes from May, June and September by Faye Stinneford, seconded by James Park. A separate motion was made to approve the October minutes by Mavy Wright, seconded by Norma Runyon. There was unanimous approval, and the motions carried. TREASURER'S REPORT The beginning balance effective today is 58,453.93. Adepositof 547.00wasmade. Theending balance as of November 20, 2025 is 58,500.93. STATUS OF CURRENT PROJECTS 1. Docents and Volunteer Report/Recru itment-signu p sheets were circulated for upcoming Open Houses. A reminder was made that the Decem ber Open House will beaspecial event for the Heritage in the Park Christmas. Due to the expected large crowds, all docents are encou raged to volu nteer for a sh ift or for the entire event. The event time will be 11am until 3pm and is always a festive time for citizens and families. 2. Facebook-Due to administrative rights, Linda Pool stated she has been working to transition the current Facebook group to a new one. HPC MTG t1t02025 - Page 1 of 2 3. Plaque -Faye Stinneford stated the plaque will be taken for engraving today. Anyone wishing to donate in memory of Billy Byers and/or Helen Payton could be processed at this meeting. A minimum of S25 is necessary to have the donor's name placed on the plaque. 4. Display Signs - up to date. 5. Pu blicity/Programs/Speakers - no upcoming speakers. 6. Heritage Park- no report. CHAIRMAN,S REPORT- Ms. McCormick explained a recommendation to restructure the Committee to update the quorum regulation. A suggestion was made to form an Executive Board offive members, thereby establishing a quorum of three members if needed. The members would continue to provide input. Ms. Mccormick will write a proposal; any changes must be approved by the Euless City Cou ncil. STAFF REPORT- Mr. Strawn advised of the upcoming holiday events, including Heritage Park Christmas on December 13. The December meeting will be held at Texas Star on Monday, December 8 at 10:45am with delicious complimentary lunch afterward. COMMITTEE REPORT / INPUT - James Park stated he is finding it beneficial to take notes of the exhibits by shadowing other docents while at the museum. He has gained a wealth of information during that time. Another suggestion was to purchase and post "Open Today" feather flags at the museum so passers-by could see the museum is available. A recommendation was made to advise and post emergency contact information for the onsite City staff member. ln case offire, flood, or other emergency, the appropriate people could be easily a lerted. To reach interested citizens, another suggestion was to create a QR code to circulate publicly to provide information about the museum, Euless history, and how to join the Historical Preservation Commission.
