CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:00 PM. On
Monday, November, 03,2025, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Steve
Doty. Other Board Members present: Roger Sickler, Brenda Dyer, Barbara Kaytser and Genesis
Reza. Members absent: Gabriel Rosas, Chairman Randy Jones, and John Raab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Duane Strawn, Assistant Parks
and Community Service Director Elizabeth Johnson, Aquatics/Senior Superintendent Richard
Sharnsky, Recreation Superintendent Alex Harvey, Parks Manager Randy Leach and
Administrative Assistant Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: Council Member Jeremy Tompkins and Loretta Doty

Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Steve Doty asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the August 04,
2025 regular meeting. Roger Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Brenda Dyer. The vote was unanimous.

Trimmed trees at VOBC and J.A. Carr Park.

ll. Business of the Tree Board
Parks Department is gearing up for the Parade of Lights Float.
Department will start working on this float on December OL, 2025.
Board is invited to work on the float or even give ideas.

b. Recreation Report - Alex Harvev
Holiday in The Park will be at Glade Parks on November 75,2025 starting at 4:30
PM. There will be inflatables/Face Painting/Photo's with Santa/Reindeer & Sleigh.
Parade of Lights - Classic Christmas Movies: Rainout Edition will take place on
December 06, 2025 at 6:30 PM. The parade will leave Trinity High School and
travel down Midway to the Euless Family Life Aquatic Park.
Heritage Park Christmas Celebration. This event will take place at Heritage Park on
December t3,2025 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM.
d. Aquatics & Senior Cente r Reoort - Rich Sharnskv
o The Senior Center will be hosting their annual Holiday Luncheon. This will take
place on November 72,2025 starting at 12 PM.
o There will be a Veterans Day Breakfast at the Senior Center starting at 8:00 AM.
o The Aquatics Division will be bringing back Swim with Santa. This will take place on
Friday, December 12th at 5:30 PM. There will be a Hot Chocolate Bar and a Snow
Mach ine.
Duane presented to the Park Board a Year in Review. ln this presentation the
following topics were highlighted:
o Arbor Daze 7025 at Glade Parks - Over 10,000 People attended. The event
had a Drone Show and Le Freak was the closing act. This band had a huge
draw and many groupies attended.
o The PACS department was able to Bet a Special Events Trailer and wrapped
it with pictures and memories from past events.
o The City Christmas tree got a makeover with Ornaments. We were also able
to add other Christmas decorations around the Aquatic Park.
o The Parks Master Plan was able to let the City know things that were
needed throughout the PACS Department. New Playgrounds and Shade
structures were top ofthe list. The Pre-School playground was updated and
shade added. Midway Park also got a new playground with shade. J.A. Carr
Park added shade to the existing playground. McCormick Park also received
shade to their existing playground. Wilshire Park was completely
remodeled with a brand-new playground, shaded picnic tables and shade

over the playground. PATS South got a new playground structure and
sh ad e.
o PATS South added turf to Jacob, Shay and Fenway. This has completed the
turf project.
o PATS North Entrance has been completed. The entrance now has an
Archway with lights and letters and the landscape is complete. Split rail
fencing was also added down highland.
o PATS South will be adding a new restroom with storage.
o PATS South Batting Cage area will be completely revamped. ln this phase
we will be adding Pickleball Courts, % Basketball Court, New Parking and
Seating.
o South Euless Park Master Plan is complete. Pickleball and Basketball will be
added. New Parking, Trail, picnic tables and a new restroom and pavilion
will be added.
o Kiddie Carr will be revamped as well. New Trails, playground, picnic tables
and a trail connectlon will be added.
Steve Doty thanked the staff for their reports.
No new Business
Council Member Jeremy Tompkins reported that he is grateful to serve City Staff and
employees. He commented that it was awesome to see the year in review.
