HomeMy WebLinkAbout2026-03The EulessCity Council
Dear Citizens,
We recently lost an incredible gentleman and public servant, former Mayor Jimmy Payton. Mayor Payton was elected when he was 24 years old when the City had only one employee, a City Secretary. The first ordinances controlling zoning, electrical and plumbing codes were passed during his term of office. Mayor Payton moved to Euless with his family when he was only six months old and remained a Euless resident for the rest of his life. He and his wife, Helen, were deeply rooted and actively involved in building the community we have today. He truly loved the City and I am thankful for his service as it has paved the way for those who have served since then.
After a great deal of reflection and conversation with my family, I have decided that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my current term. Serving on Council for the past 22 years - including the privilege of serving as your Mayor - has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished: improving essential services, investing in infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and fostering a stronger sense of community. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of my fellow Council members, our talented municipal staff, community partners, volunteers, and the residents who consistently show up, speak up, and care deeply about our City. Thank you for the trust you have placed in me over these past 22 years. It has truly been an honor to serve you.
