Parks and Leisure Services Board
January 05, 2026
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:00 PM. On
Monday, January 05, 2026, in the Pre-Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by
Chairman Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Brenda
Dyer, Genesis Reza and Gabriel Rosas. Members absent: Barbara Kayster.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Duane Strawn, Aquatics/Senior
Superintendent Richard Sharnsky, Recreation Superintendent Alex Harvey, Parks Manager Randy
Leach, PATS General Manager Chris Thames and Administrative Assistant Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: Loretta Doty
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the
December 07,2025 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as
presented and was seconded byJohn Raab. The vote was unanimous.
l. Election of Officers
Chairman Jones advised that the current Park Board Officers are: Chairman - Randy Jones,
Vice Chairman - John Raab and Secretary - Steve Doty.
The current Tree Board Officers are: Chairman - Roger Sickler and Vice Chairman - Vacant
John Raab made a motion to nominate Randy Jones for Chairman of the Park Board. The
motion was seconded by Roger Sickler. There were no other nominations and the vote to
approve was unanimous.

Chairman Jones stated that each officer will be elected by nomination and then vote ofthe
Park Board. He opened the floor for nominations.
Steve Doty made a motion to nominate John Raab for Vice Chairman. The motion was
seconded by Roger Sickler. There were no other nominations and the vote to approve was
unanimous.
Roger Sickler made a motion to nominate Steve Doty for Secretary. The motion was
seconded by Brenda Dyer. There were no other nominations and the vote to approve was
unanimous.
John Raab made a motion to nominate Roger Sickler for Chairman of the Tree Board. The
motion was seconded by Randy Jones. There were no other nominations and the vote to
approve was unanimous.
Gabriel Rosas made the nominate himself as Vice Chairman of the Tree Board. The motion
was seconded by John Raab. There were no other nominations and the vote to approve
was unanimous.
The new 2026 Park Board Officers are: Chairman - Rand y Jones, Vice Chairman - John
Raab and Secretary-Steve Doty.
The new 2026 Tree Board Officers are: Chairman - Roger Sickler and Vice Chairman -
Gabriel Rosas.

Tree Board Chairman Roger Sickler reported the following for December 1st - 31st 2025:
F Removed 2 trees at J.A. Carr Park
L Removed downed branches from Trailwood
F Trimmed trees around volleyball shade cover at Bob Eden
lV. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report - Alex Harvev
o Holiday in the Park was held on November 15,2025 from 4:30PM - 7:30PM at
Glade Parks. This was the 2nd year we have held this event and again was a great hit. We
had a photo op with Santa and Mrs. Claus, face painting, train rides, an lce slide, bounce
houses, a reindeer and ended the night with a Drone Show.
r The 31't year of The Parade of Lights took place on December 6, 2025 starting at
6:30PM. The Parade route went from Trinity High School parking lot to the Euless
Family Life Center Aquatic Park. There were 60 applications to be a participate in
the parade.
o Heritage Park Christmas Celebration was held on December 13, 2O25 from
11:00AM - 3:00PM at Heritage Park. There were members of the Historical
Preservation Committee on sign to give tours of the Museum, Fuller House,
McCormick Barn as well as choirs, church groups, Santa and Mrs. Clause, Reindeer
food and even a blacksmith.
Swim with Santa was held on December 72,2025 in the natatorium at the Euless
Family Life Center. The event sold out. There was a hot chocolate bar and even a
snow machine.
The pool in the Natatorium was drained. lt has since gotten re-plastered and new
race way tile has been placed.
The Aquatic Park is in the process ofgetting a new cool deck. The old cool deck has
been taken up and they will lay new plaster. The pool is also getting new LED
lights.
The Senior Center partnered with 6 Stones and were able to raise 5603.00 by
selling raffle tickets for wreaths, and quilted bags.
A few events going on at the Senior Center were Mystery Lunch, a lunch made by
Chef Bob, and a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo.
A Park check list was handed out to each member. Duane stated that he would like
each member to use this check list every month when walking their assigned parks.
A calendar of events was passed out. Hopefully with having dates ahead of time
this will allow members to be active in different upcoming events.
