EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD
September 9,2025
ITEM 1 _ CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by
Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones at 12:37 P.M. at the City of Euless
Animal Shelter (temporary),201W. Euless Blvd., Euless, Texas 76040
The following members were in attendance:
Director of Public Works and Engineering Major Jones
Dr. Susan Read
City of Grapevine Animal Services Coordinator Madeline Oliver
Staff Members Present:
Assistant City Manager Lawrence Bryant
Public Works Manager Alan Knapp
AS Foreman Jodan Shelton
Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour
ITEM 2 - REVIEW & APPROVE MEETING MINUTES FROM JUNE
Director Jones asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes of
June 11,2025. With no questions or comments, the minutes were accepted as written.
ITEM 3. UPDATE ON GAP
AS Foreman Shelton reported that GAP has taken in a lot of fosters and did a "Hot Dog
Yoga" on7l20 at Texas Star. They have a "Bark ln The Park" event coming up on 9/13.
ITEM4-STAFFREPORT
o Operations:
AS Foreman Shelton reported that ASO Preciado has begun the first section of his
Texas Certified Abuse Training. Animal Services had a community outreach event,
"Coffee in the Park" on 6/28. They have other community outreach events planned
in the future; a costume contest for dogs and cats with a gift card for the winner in
each category, "Trunk or Treat" in October, "Touch a Truck" at the Library, and a
presentation on 9/10 atthe Senior Centerto discuss ordinances regarding animals.

o Facilities:
AS Foreman Shelton reported that they have started installing the drywall at the
new shelter and that the store front has been installed. They are working on the
kennels which are 12-14 weeks out. He also indicated that they have received
donations and gift bags from various sources that they give out with adoptions.
Questions were answered regarding the anticipated move in date into the new
facility.
ITEM 5. QUESTIONS

COMMENTS
Director Jones suggested having a fourth meeting some time in December in order for
the Board to take a tour of the Animal Services facility. A tentative date of December 1Oth
was suggested and agreed upon. Director Jones asked if there were any questions or
comments on the quarterly reports. Assistant City Manager Bryant inquired about the
increase of bite calls and Dr. Read asked AS Foreman Shelton if he had any thoughts on
what contributed to that. AS Foreman Shelton indicated that it is possibly due to the
summer weather with a lot of people out walking their dogs or going to the dog park.
Director Jones pointed out the increase in the number of wildlife calls. AS Foreman
Shelton indicated that this was also due to the warmer weather. With no further questions
or comments, the meeting concluded.

The meeting was adjourned at12:57 P.M.
