HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-02-1893 Called Reeting Euless City Council February 18, 1959 A special called meeting was held by the Euless City Council on February 18, 1959• Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr.., Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, Bobby Fuller, W. 0. Murray, and Albert Tillery. Appearing before the City Council was Corporation Court Judge Jimmy C. Payton who gave a report on his trip to Austin to the school for Corporation Court Judges, Chief's of Police Departments and Justices of the Peace. He stated they had between 60 and 70 attending the school, and that they received considerable information in the lectures on permissable evidence, tests that should be made in certain types of cases. He stated that in his opinion the school had been very beneficial to all that attended it. 2. Mr. Fbllans of the Redi -Go Concrete Company of Hurst appeared before the City Council asking for permission to install a semi - permanent concrete p l a n t approximately 600 feet back o f the Western H i l l s Inn and 100 feet off of Highway 157. He read a letter from his company stating that they would remove the plant if .there was any complaints of it being dusty. He was informed that this would be a violation of the present commercial zoning of this property. He stated they would contact the owners of the property regarding the change in zoning on this property to industrial zoning. 3• Mrs. Kenny appeared with Mr. 0. S. Dobkins before the City Council asking for permission to build a 3000 square foot residence and nursery on the J. K. Williams lot. This would be a combination three bedroom brick home and nursery. The front yard would not be fenced, but the back yard would have a red wood fence on each side and a cyclone fence in the back. She was informed that this property was at this time zoned residential and with this type of zoning a nursery could not be operated at this location. It was suggested she contact the residents of this area and find out what their attitude would be about a nursery being operated at this location and come back and discuss this matter at the next council meeting. 4. Mr. Clifford Johnson, City Manager of Hurst, appeared before the City Council to discuss city problems such as Performance Bonds, Maintenance Bonds, inspection of streets, plumbing inspection, electrical and building inspections and the cost thereof. �t (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, February 18, 1959) 5. A motion was made by Councilman Murray, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, to approve the preliminary plat of the Millican Subdivision of 13 lots in the Oak Crest Estates Addition. This is a replat of Alexander - Cullum Subdivision, Tracts 4 and 5. The vote in favor was unanimous. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City of Euless sign an agreement with the Texas Company to buy gasoline by tank truck load, their current price being $.26.5 per gallon. They are to furnish the tank and pump, setting up a charge for these to total $100.00, and allow the City of Euless credit of $50.00 per year against this charge, which would liquidate the balance in two years. The vote in favor was unanimous. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead, and seconded by Councilman Murray, to authorize the Chief of Police to get the experience of other police departments with different makes of cars used in police work such as Chevrolets, Fords, and Plymouths.
