Regular Meeting
Euless City Council
February 24, 1959
The regular meeting of the Euless City
Council was held on February 24, 1959• Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr.,
Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Bobby Fuller, W. 0. Murray, and Albert Tillery.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Murray, that the following men be appointed as a Board
of Adjustment; Messrs. J . S . Anderson, B i l l y L . Byers, M. E . M e r r i l l , Henry
Usleton, and Edward Smith. They are to select a chairman, vice chairman, and
a secretary. The vote in favor was unanimous.

A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Murray, that Mrs. Kenney's request for permission
to build a combination brick home and nursery on the J. R. Williams lot,
and Mr. Rollans request for the Redi -Go Concrete Company be permitted to
install a semi- permanent concrete mixing plant on Highway 157 in back of
Western H i l l s Inn, be referred to the Board of Adjustment. A I I councilmen
present voted in favor of this motion.

At the request of the City Council, Mr.
Bob Brady of the Midway Park Developers and Mr. M i l l e r of the Texas B i t u l i t h i c
Company appeared before the City Council to discuss street repairs and a
Maintenance Bond on streets in Midway Park. M r . M i l l e r stated that the west
end of Midway Drive would be peeled off and relaid and that all other streets
in Midway Park No. 1 would be examined and repaired where they needed repairs.
He suggested that in the future when we have a complaint on streets constructed
by them that we report it directly to them, sending Mr. Brady of the Midway
Park Developers a copy of the letter. He stated by doing this we could expedite
the repairs.
Mr. Miller said that he would investigate and
see if it would be possible for them to furnish the City of Euless a Blanket
Maintenance Bond f o r a two year period on a l l streets constructed by them,
and that they would certainly repair the streets and intersections that need
repa irs.

A motion was made by Councilman Murray, and
seconded by Councilman Tillery, that the City of Euless deed back to Midway Park
Developers the two acre tract that they previously deeded to the City to be
used as a park. Mr. Brady stated that they had deeded to Midway Park Home-
owners a 22 acre park area. All councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

Mr. L. E. Green of River Oaks appeared +�
before the City Council, asking for the position of electrical, plumbing,
building, and street inspector. He stated that he was a state licensed
plumbing inspector and that he had some experience with streets. He was
asked to send in a written application giving all the information about him-
self and what salary he would be willing to take this position for.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Murray, to approve the amended p l a t of Oakwood Terrace
West submitted by Mr. W. A. Elliott, representing the Gilbralter Corporation.
All councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Tillery, to instruct the City Secretary to write to
the County Engineer, Mr. Steve Champeaux, asking him to furnish us with a profile
and set of stakes on Hollywood Boulevard and Whitener streets where they
cross Vine and in the first block west of Vine Street going into Oakwood
Terrace Addition. A l l councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

The City Council discussed House B i I I
No. 173 and No. 60. House B i I I No. 1,73, recommended by the Texas Municipal
League, leaves the regulation of police and firemen's hours and wages to the
cities they work for. House B i I I No. 60 seeks to control the hours and wages
of the police and fire departments by law in the larger cities. A motion was
made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Tillery, to table this
matter until the next council meeting. A l l councilmen present voted in favor
of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Murray, and
seconded by Councilman Tillery, that the City Attorney be authorized to change
from Maintenance Bonds on different streets to Blanket Maintenance Bond
covering streets under construction by one company. All- councilmen present
voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Cadenhead, that the City of Euless make arrangements
with some one to type stencils and to make sufficient copies of a I I ordinances
that are needed. All councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Murray, that the City of Euless buy eight bronze
and tan chairs, one judge's chair and a council table from the Midway Office
Supply Company of Arlington on their bid of $877.60. All councilmen present
voted in favor of this motion.
12.
A motion was made by Councilman Tillery, and
seconded by Councilman Murray to have the City Secretary write to Mr. B. J.
Reaves calling his attention to the approximately 15 feet of curbing on Vine
Street needed to complete the curbing to his south line. Also that in cutting
streets such as Hollywood and Whitener west of Vine Street, they must t i e
into and conform with the same streets on the east side of Vine Street. All
councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.
