Euless City Council
January 20, 1959
A special called meeting of the Euless City
Council was held on January 20, 1959. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr. ,
Councilmen S. H. Cadenhead, Paul Horton, Bobby Fuller, W. 0. Murray, and Albert
Tillery.

Visitors present were Messrs. J. A. Puckett,
W. P. Martin, Ross Smith, Dan Peters, Mills, and Raymond Burnett.

The City Council discussed with Mr. Raymond
Burnett his recommendations to the Euless Electrical Ordinance now under
consideration by the City Council . He recommended that there should be added
to this ordinance the following: That appliance outlets in the kitchen and
bathrooms be grounded; that 220 volt wiring be run to all houses now being
constructed; that electricians doing work in the City of Euless be required to
be licensed electricians and to have to post a bond. Charges for electrical
inspections were discussed, having a charge for the first 10 outlets of $1 . 50
and ten (10) cents each for any others but having a minimum charge of $5.00 per
house, this to be paid to the electrical inspector as his fee for making the
inspections. Action on this matter was tabled until the next regular meeting.

A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and
seconded by Councilman Fuller, for the City to pay Mr. Don Young of the Sure
Fire Equipment Company $362.59, this being the amount of additional equipment
put on the new fire truck that was not included in the original contract. The
vote in favor was unanimous.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Horton, that the City pay Mr. A. L. Gregory the contract
price of $1150.00 for building the city jail , plus $25.00 for extra work done
on the jail door when it is completed to the satisfaction of the Chief of Police.
The vote in favor was unanimous.
5.
A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead,
and seconded by Councilman Horton, that the expenses of Joe Sales going to and
from the Dallas Police School be paid, not to exceed $90.00 for the 12 week
period. The vote in favor was unanimous.

A motion was made by Councilman Cadenhead ,
and seconded by Councilman Horton, that the proposal for changes in Highway
183 construction asked for by the Highway Committee be approved, and that a
petition be drawn up asking for these changes be signed by the Councilmen and
sent to the Highway Department. The vote in favor was unanimous.
7.
The City Council discussed with Attorney
W. L. Bondurant, the action taken in motion number 3 at the Council Meeting of
December 21 , 1958, with reference to Performance Bonds on street construction
and requiring occupancy permits in lieu thereof. The City Council decided to
study this matter further before taking any action.
The Council meeting adjourned at 10: 15 p.m.
