HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-04-22107 Called Meeting Euless City Council April 22, 1959 A special called meeting of the Euless City Council was held April 22, 1959. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Paul Horton, Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, and Lee Roy Nix. 1. Mayor Millican administered the Oath of Off ice to the following men: Planning and Zoning Commission Warren Fuller, Chairman Dan Peters, Secretary A 1 tar Horton Billy Randal 1 M. E. Merrill Zoning Board of Adjustment Edward A. Smith, Chairman Ernest C. Rose, Vice Chairman Henry J. Usleton, Jr., Secretary 0. S. Dobkins J. T. Williams Chief of Police W. M. -Sus to i re Fire Marshal Earl Stapleton 2. Mr. Bob Caldwell, City Planning Consultant, associated with the Wisenbaker s Fix Company, appeared before the City Council with a future planning program for the City of Euless covering a two year period at an approximate cost of $5,000.00. He stated that while there was no money available at this time it might be that the City of Euless might get the federal government to share about half the cost of this planning program, and for further information about this assistance we could write to Mr. F. J. VonZuben, Chief Engineer of the State Health Department, General Sanitation Service, Austin, Texas. 3. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City of Euless enter into a contract with the Sinclair Ref ininf Company to buy gasoline and oil from them, their current prices to us would be 19.4 cents per gallon on premium gasoline and 15.9 cents per gallon on regular gasoline, 68 cents per gallon on bulk oil and $5.40 per case of 24 quarts on oil in cans. They are to install a 1000 gallon (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, April 22, 1959) gasoline tank and a pump at no cost to the City. This tank and pump to remain the property of the Sinclair Refining Company, The 'Vote fn fwYor was {. unanimous. 4. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, to appoint Mrs. Laverne Horton as clerk of the special election to be held May 2, 1959• The vote in favor was unanimous. 5• Mr. Dan Peters, Secretary of the Planning and Zoning Commission, speaking for the Planning and Zoning Commission, recommended to the City Council that the City of Euless employ Mr. Bob Caldwell's firm as planning consultants for the City of Euless. 6. Councilman Horton was asked to contact Commissioner Earl Johnson and find out what it would cost the property owners in the Cedar Hills and the Cresthaven Addition per foot to have their streets hot - topped. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, to have the City Secretary purchase signs for the Council Room and the Corporation Court Room. The vote in favor was unanimous. 91 A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that Councilman Fuller buy a typist chair for the City Secretary's office. Vote in favor was unanimous. a A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to approve the requests for permission to build gravel driveways on the Dan Peters and the Roger T. White's property. These requests having been previosuly approved by the State Highway Department. The vote in favor was unanimous. Attest: /s/ W. E.
