Parks and Leisure Services Board
June, 01, 2026
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 6:00 PM. On
Monday, June, 01, 2026, in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Barbara Kaytser and
Brenda Dyer. Members absent: Genesis Reza and Gabriel Rosas.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Duane Strawn, Assistant Parks
and Community Service Director Elizabeth Johnson, Aquatics/Senior Superintendent Richard
Sharnsky, Recreation Superintendent Alex Harvey, Parks Manager Randy Leach, Athletic Mana8er
Sandy Purcell and Administrative Assistant Jodie Dunn.
Visitors present: No visitors present.

Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the May 04,
2026 regular meeting. Steve Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by John Raab. The vote was unanimous.

Baseball Registration has started. We had 87 teams last season and excited to see
how this season turns out.
Track season is upon us. We have 182 Athletes signed up for this season. We will
be hosting a track meet on June 27,2026 and Central Jr. High.

b Parks Reoort -Randv Leach
o The Parks Department has been aerating practice fields and the monument sign.
. A Boy Scout troop has been working on a project at the Villages at Bear Creek.
They are working on the cut through by providing pope for drainage and spreading
the rock on the trail.
o The Parks Department has also been working on the landscaping plan for the new
Police Station.
c. Recreation Report - Alex Harvev
. Art in the Park will be held on June 06, 2026 at 8:00 AM at Wilshire Park.
o Canines and Coffee will takeplaceon June 27,2026 from 7:30 -9:30 AM. This will
take place at the Bear Creek dog park.
o The Euless Family Life Center will be having a Tie Dye Party from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
. A Scavenger Hunt will take place on July 18, 2026 starting at 8:00 AM. All
participants will meet at the Euless Family Life Center to receive their clues.

ll. Business of the Tree Board
a. Athletics Report - Sandv Purcell
The Euless Splash Down will be on July 25, 2026 from 9:00 - 11:30 AM at the Euless
Family Life Center.
The Jr, Anglers event was held on May 23, 2026 at Wilshire. We had a lot of first
time Anglers at the event and a variety of fish were caught.
Shameless (A Garth Brook's Cover Band) held a summer concert at Glade Parks.
There were approximatelyl25 people in attendance.
d. Aquatics & Senior Center Reoort - Rich Sharnskv
. The Aquatic Park is open for the Season !
. We have partnered with the library and will be hosting Story Time on 061L1/2026.
o World's Largest Swim Lessons will take place on June 25, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
r There are a lot of events coming up at the Senior Center. The senior float the river
starts on OGl05l2O26 and will take place on Friday mornings. 6/L812026 there will
be a jazz concert, 06125/2026 is Movie Night on the Patio and various Guess That
Food events willtake place through the next few months.
. Comments
. South Euless Park renovation is underway. Signs are up and the park is fenced off.
o Kiddie Carr Park and the Batting Cage plans are being reviewed and modified.
o July is Parks and Recreation Month. The PACS department will be receiving a
proclamation from the Mayor and all Park Board members are invited and
encouraged to attend.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
