Euless City Council
June 9, 1959
The regular meeting of the Euless City
Council was held June 9, 1959. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr. ,
Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, Lee Roy Nix, and 3. S. Anderson.
1.
NI Frankie Wright appeared before the City
Council regarding his operation of a truck used parts lot at his residence
on Highway 183. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by
Councilman Anderson, that Nt Wright be given an additional thirty days to
clean up this business to a point where it would be acceptable to the City.
All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Anderson,
and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to approve the notice calling for a public
hearing on June 30, 1959, on the request of Nk Ross Cannon to rezone Lot 6
of the revised Ross Cannon Addition to the City of Euless, from "A" Single
Family Residence to "B" Local Business zoning. This request haviny been
previously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. All Councilmen
present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was rnade by Councilman Ferris, and
seconded by Councilman Nix, to approve the notice calling a public hearing on
June 30, 1959, on the request of Xt Warren Fuller for a change in zoning
designation on the following described property: Lots 1 through 6, inclusive,
i n Block 2, Lots 1 through 3 inclusive in Block 3, now zoned "A" Single
Family Residence, to be zoned "B" Local Business; such application having
been heretofore approved by the City Planning Commission. All of these lots
are in Euless Gardens Addition to Euless. All Councilmen present voted in
favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller,
and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to authorize Councilrnan Anderson and MC
Warren Fuller to contact the proper officials in Fort Worth, and in the Chamber
of Commerce Aviation Committee and discuss with them the adjusting of the city
limit boundaries and the exchanging of land that Fort Worth needs north of
the Amon Carter Airport for land that vie need south of Pipeline Road. All
Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.
5.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Ferris, to authorize the Chief of Police to hire two
dispatchers at a salary of $200.00 for each man per month starting June 1, 1959.
All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Nix,
and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that the resignation of Patrolman Joe R.
Sales, as of June 14, 1959, be accepted. A I I Councilmen present voted i n
favor of this motion.
7.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Nix, that the Chief of Police and the City Secretary
work up a schedule showing the job classification, duties, and working hours
of each person working for the City of Euless, and submit it to the Council
for approval. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion.
A motion was made by Councilman Anderson,
and seconded by Councilman Fuller, t h a t m s e l l the one ton second hand Gibson
a i r conditioner f o r as much as possible. A l l Councilmen present voted in
favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Nix, that Mr. Thos. A. Kennard be paid $1.50 per hour
f o r the 1 2 hours he worked in the City Secretary's o f f i c e . A l l Councilmen
present voted in favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Nix, and
seconded by Councilman Anderson, that the City Secretary be instructed to
train Mrs. Marilyn Mitchell so that she can do the necessary work to carry
on the duties of the office i n his absence. A I I Councilmen present voted i n
favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Anderson,
and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that Mrs. Marilyn Mitchell be paid at the
rate of $1.25 per hour for doing office work. All Councilmen present voted
i n favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Anderson,
and seconded by Councilman Nix, that the City Secretary be instructed to
write a letter to the Midway Office Supply Company thanking them for the
Witness Chair they gave to the City for the Court and Council Room. All
Councilmen present voted i n favor of this motion.

the City Secretary to write to

the Alexander-Cullum Addition
to Euless,
that ve have had complaints that
the
weeds have grown too high on
this lot,
and need to be cut immediately.

Councilmen present voted in
favor of this
motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller,
and seconded by Councilman Nix, to adjourn at 11:50 p.m. All Councilmen
present voted in favor of this motion.

favor of this motion.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller,
and seconded by Councilman Nix, to adjourn at 11:50 p.m. All Councilmen
present voted in favor of this motion.
