HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-07-28141 Regular Meeting Euless City Council July 28, 1959 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held July 28, 1959. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Paul Horton, Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, and Lee Roy Nix. The council meeting was opened with a prayer by Councilman Ferris. 1. N& Dan Peters appeared before the City Council with a revised plat of the Don Peters Subdivision, known as Park Terrace, correcting lot sizes to meet the City's minimim requirements. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Horton, that this final plat be approved. Xt Peters was instructed to furnish the City with a sepia and five copies of this plat. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. a The Oath of Office was administered by Mayor Millican to the members of the Board of Equalization. There are Messrs. Carl E. Hall, Luther Anders, and J. T. Mecaskey. 3. Me Henry Keller, Vice President of the Fort Worth office of the First of Texas Corporation, appeared before the City Council to discuss the purchase and financing of the Water and Sewer System of Euless. Nt Keller stated that evaluation of the water and sewer system could only be made after a survey had been made by competent engineers and then if the City could buy it for a fair and reasonalbe price, and it had been decided by the Council to purchase this system, the cost of making the survey would be 2% of the purchase price, if the City decided not to buy the water and sewer system, there would be no cost for making the survey. It was decided that Nt Keller would bring Nt Joe Rady of the Joe Rady & Company, Consulting Engineers, with him to a specai 1' council meeting at 7:30 p.m., August 4, 1959. 4. Fire Commissioner Nix gave the City Council a statement of the cost of repairing fire truck unit no. 51, together with the invoices for materials and labor on this job. The cost of these repairs are as follows: for materials $702.30; labor $319.50, making a total of $1021.80, for the complete job. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to approve the payment of these bills. A motion was made by Councilman 11'erris, and seconded by Councilman Horton, that the City of Euless borrow $5,000.00 from the Hurst State Bank, Hurst, Texas, for a period of ninety days. Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., i s authorized to sign a note bearing interest at 5% for this amount. A I I Councilmen present voted i n favor of this motion. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Nix, that the City of Euless purchase a new patrol car from the Bob Cooke, Inc., of Arlington, the lowest bidder, for $2039.00 plus $175.90 for a cruise -0 -matic transmission, and the additional cost of a wind shield washer and a heavy duty generator. A I I Councilmen present voted i n favor of this motion. The City Council discussed the payment of a $100.00 bonus to the warrant officer for each $400.00 he collected on warrants. His regular warrant fee i s not to be included i n the total of $400.00. It was decided to continue this practice of paying this bonus. Attest: /s/ W. E.
