AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3" OF CHAPTER
38, "FLOODS" OF THE EULESS CODE OF ORDINANCES BY
CHANGING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE FEDERAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) SCIENTIFIC
AND ENGINEERING REPORT WITH ACCOMPANYING MAPS
FOR THE CITY OF EULESS FROM AUGUST 2, 1995 TO
AUGUST 23, 2000; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Euless participates in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's
(FEMA's) Flood Insurance Program;
WHEREAS, the City's Flood Ordinance currently states the effective FEMA report date as August
2,1995;
WHEREAS, a new FEMA scientific and engineering report and accompanying maps will go into
effect August 23, 2000; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, to amend its Flood
Ordinance to conform to this new report and accompanying maps.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS,
TEXAS
THAT, Section 38 -5, "Basis for establishing the areas of special flood hazard" of Chapter 38,
"FLOODS" of the Euless Code of Ordinances, as amended, be amended to hereafter read as follows:
The areas of special flood hazard identified by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency in a scientific and engineering report entitled the Flood
Insurance Study for the City of Euless, dated August 23, 2000, with
accompanying flood insurance rate maps and flood boundary- floodway maps
and any revisions thereto, are hereby adopted by reference and declared to be
part of this chapter,
Severability Clause. That it is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council that the
section, paragraphs, sentences, clauses and phrases of this ordinance are severable, and if any phrase,
clause, sentence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared invalid or unconstitutional by
the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality
shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of this
ordinance, since the same would have been enacted by the City Council without the incorporation in this
ordinance of any such invalid or unconstitutional phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or sentence.

Saving Clause. That Chapter 38 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Euless, Texas, as amended
shall remain in full force and effect, save and except as amended by this ordinance.
IV.
Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from after its passage and publication
as provided by the Euless City Charter and the laws of the State of Texas.
PRESENTED AND MASSED on the first and final reading on the 27th day of June
2000, at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, by a vote of 7 ayes, 0
nays, and 0 abstentions.
