HomeMy WebLinkAbout154 09-16-1961ORDINANCE NO. 154 AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A TAX ON PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, FOR THE YEAR OF 1961, PROVIDING PENALTIES, INTEREST AND LEGAL RDIEDIES FOR THE COLLECTING THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF EULESS, TEXAS: SECTION I, That a tax is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Euless, Texas, for the year of 1961, at the rate of seventy cents (70Q) per One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) valuation. SECTION II. That twenty -five per cent (25 %) of the 70� tax on each $100.00 valuation hereby levied shall be used for the following purposes: (a) To the extent of $20,100.53, the tax levied upon this section is for the purpose of paying interest and to maintain a sinking fund upon the indebtedness of the City of Euless. (b) To the extent of all taxes collected under the= provisions of this section in excessof $20,100.53 the tax levied by this section is for the purpose of paying current general expenses of the City and for making permanent improvements therein. SECTION III. That seventy -five per cent (75 %) of the 70, tax on each $100.00 valuation hereby levied shall be used for the purpose of paying current expenses of the City of Euless, Texas, and for making permanent improve- ments therein. SECTION IV. The penalties and interest accruing to the State of Texas and authorized by the ordinance of the City of Euless, Texas, upon delinquent taxes are hereby adopted and shall accrue to the City of Euless when City taxes become delinquent. The City of Euless is hereby authorized to adopt any and all legal remedies provided by the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas and its ordinances for the purpose of collect- ing delinquent taxes.
