Present were Mayor Ernest M i l l i c a n , Jr., Councilmen Paul Horton, Ross Ferris, Lee Roy Nix, and J. S. Anderson. 1. V i s i t o r s appearing before the City Council were Mr. Clarence W. Garrard of' the Fort Worth National Bank; Mr. E. L. Baker, Sr., and Mr. E. L. Baker, Jr., M r . Royce Wisenbaker and Mr. McCullough and M r . W. A. E l l i o t t , Jr., o f the f i r m of Wisenbaker, Fix and Associaties; Mr. Wayne Gault o f the Rock Island Railroad and members o f the Planning and Zoning Commission t o discuss the prospects o f the Glidden Paint Company o f Cleveland, Ohio, building t h e i r plant i n the City of Euless. 2. Mr. Garrard stated t h a t Euless was one o f f i v e s i t e s t h i s company had under consideration, the others being I r v i n g , Carrollton, Grand P r a i r i e , Oak C l i f f , but t h a t he f e l t l i k e Euless would have an excellent chance t o get t h i s plant i f we could meet t h e i r requirements and would give them our f u l l e s t cooperation. 3. Mr. E. L. Baker, Sr., stated that the land t h a t they were interested i n was a f o r t y-four acre t r a c t owned by him, located about one mile west o f Hwy. 157 on Highway 183 and extends through t o Pipeline Road. He said that if they accept t h i s t r a c t o f land t h a t he would dedicate t h i r t y feet and the company would dedicate t h i r t y f e e t to construct another road alongside t h e i r plant from Highway 183 t o Pipeline Road. The type o f plant they plan to construct w i l l be a three level mixing plant handling paints, chemicals, with a research laboratory. They would employ about 100 people to s t a r t with and increase as more were needed. They w i l l require heavy i n d u s t r i a l zoning f o r t h i s property and he recommended t h a t adjacent property be so zoned t o encourage other industries t o come i n t o t h i s area. 4. A motion was made by Councilman Anderson, and seconded by Councilman Horton, t h a t Resolution No. 24 be approved. No. 24 i s to go on record as o f f e r i n g t o cooperate with the Glidden Company i n every way possible t o get them t o locate t h e i r plant i n Euless. present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. G i l l be authorized t o draw up the s p e c i f i c a t i o r s f o r a new f i r e truck for the F i r e Department. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, t h a t the Mayor be authorized t o appoint a committee t o formulate a l e t t e r to the Glidden Company, Cleveland, Ohio, explaining t o them the d e s i r a b i l i t y o f locating t h e i r plant i n the City o f Euless, and the desire o f the Euless City Council to cooperate with them i n every way possible. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Nix, t h a t Mr. Jimmy C. Payton be appointed t o represent the City o f Euless i n discussing insurance rates with the representative o f the Glidden Company, Cleveland, Ohio. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor .of t h i s motion. 8. Attached i s a copy of the l e t t e r t o the Glidden Company, as formulated by the Committee. A motion was made by Councilman Anderson, and seconded by Councilman Horton, that Fire Chief A. 6. Gill be authorized to draw up the specificatiorsfor a new fire truck for the Fire Department. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Horton, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that the Mayor be authorized to appoint a committee to formulate a letter to the Glidden Company, Cleveland, Ohio, explaining to them the desirability of locating their plant in the City of Euless, and the desire of the Euless City Council to cooperate with them in every way possible. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Nix, that Mr. Jimmy C. Payton be appointed to represent the City of Euless in discussing insurance rates with the representative of the Glidden Company, Cleveland, Ohio. All Councilmen present voted in favor .of this motion. 8. Attached is a copy of the letter to the Glidden Company, as formulated by the Committee.
