Hal got a call from the grandson of a lady who believed the city had fostered a poodle that was hers that she had been looking for since January. She thought we picked it up and GAP had fostered it out to people who wouldn't let her see the dog to see if it was her dog. Staff met them at the shelter. After looking at pictures and talking, it was determined that her lost dog was a female poodle and she lost it in Hurst and the dog she thought was hers was a male and it was owner surrendered to the shelter and then was adopted out. It had also been adopted out of the shelter two years ago. The lady still wanted to see the dog to have closure. Euthanasias are less and shelter population is down. Larry and Hal gave credit to the GAP Club. ITEM 6 — DOG DAZE EVENT Hal updated Perry on the Dog Daze Event since it had been five to six years since he last attended one. Hal said there has been discussion on combining Dog Daze with the Trinity GAP Club's shelter fundraiser which is also held in May at Trinity High School as there is some crossover. He said staff will look at statistics to compare who is coming Cr to Dog Daze and who is coming to GAP's event, compare the services provided, and the costs, and whether or not we really need both events and then will make a recommendation. Larry said Chairman Maas has the statistics on the number of people attending and the number of dogs vaccinated. Larry estimated that there were about 200-300 people there and probably 1,000 to 2,000 people attended the GAP Club event at Trinity High School. Larry said Dr. Maas can't get her vaccinations costs down to compete with GAP's prices as explained at the last meeting. Michelle suggested that an Animal Control officer have a booth set up at the next GAP Club event. Larry said that they do have an officer attend GAP's fundraiser events.
