EULESS ANIMAL SHELTER ADVISORY BOARD
JULY 29, 2015
ITEM 1 — CALL TO ORDER
A regular meeting of the Euless Animal Shelter Advisory Board was called to order by
Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor at 11:30 A.M. at the City of Euless
Public Works Facility, 1513 Westpark Way, Euless, Texas 76040.
The following members were in attendance:
Dr. Susan Read
Council Member Perry Bynum
Director of Public Works and Engineering Hal Cranor
Michelle Watson
Staff Members Present:
Assistant Director of Public Works James Whitt
Facilities Foreman Kenny Spargur
Animal Control Supervisor Larry James
Assistant City Manager Chris Barker
Administrative Secretary Debbie Latour
ITEM 2 — INTRODUCE NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Director Cranor introduced Dr. Susan Read who has replaced Dr. Gayla Maas. Dr.
Read gave a brief professional history. Attendees introduced themselves to Dr. Read.
ITEM 3 — REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES FROM MEETING OF JULY 21, 2014
Director Cranor asked if there were any comments or questions regarding the minutes
of July 21, 2014. Hal entertained a motion to accept. Council Member Bynum made a
motion to approve. Director Cranor seconded the motion. Motion approved.
ITEM 4— SHELTER STATISTIC REPORT
Animal Control Supervisor James reported on current statistics for the shelter:
367 service calls in the last 3 months
59 animals brought in during April / 184 animals brought in during April
(includes wildlife)
49 animals adopted out

ITEM 5 — GAP (GIRLS AWARENESS PROGRAM)
Discussed GAP and the work they do at the shelter. An article was distributed
showcasing the adoption of a dog through the GAP program. GAP is currently fostering
approximately 30 animals.
ITEM 6 — DOG DAZE EVENT
Event is scheduled September 26th and is being held in the Trinity High School parking
lot. There will be vendors selling arts/crafts and low cost vaccinations will be offered.
ITEM 7 — ASAB MEETING SCHEDULE
Director Cranor explained that by law, the Board must have at least 3 meetings per
year. Tentative dates of Sept. 30th and Dec. 2nd were discussed and agreed upon by
the Board.
ITEM 8 — RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD
Reviewed the purpose, mission and responsibilities of the Animal Shelter Advisory
Board.
ITEM 9 — QUESTIONS / COMMENTS
Dr. Read requested written statistics on the shelter. Discussed possible needs of the
shelter and the recent donation of 1,000 lbs. of dog food to the shelter by Blue Buffalo.
It was suggested that the shelter network with other shelters / veterinary clinics in the
area to share ideas, thoughts, etc.
ITEM 90 — SHELTER WALK-THRU
Board did a shelter walk-thru and met other Animal Control personnel /volunteers.
ITEM 11 —ADJOURN
The meeting was adjourned at 12:20 P.M.
