Euless City Council

The regular meeting of the Euless City
Council was held on My 24, 1960. P-resent were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr. ,
Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, Lee Roy Nix, H, M. Huffman, and Roy
Braswell.
The Council meeting was opened with a prayer
by Councilman Fuller.

The minutes of the council meeting and public
hearing of NVby 10, 1960, were read by the City Secretary and approved by the
City Council.
2.
Nk Freddie Dutton, 803 Denton Drive, Euless,
appeared before the City Council with reference to his appoication for a position
as part time dispatcher in the Police Department. Mr. Dutton is presently in
the Navy but will be available after August 21, 1960.
A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and
seconded b y Councilman Nix, that h e be placed on the stand -by l i s t for the
position as dispatcher. The vote in favor was unanimous.

Mr. Jack R. Ballew, 501 Martin Lane, Euless,
appeared before the City Council in connection with his application for the position
of City Inspector. The Councilmen discussed his application with Mr. Ballew
and informed him that they would consider his application when the position became
open.

A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Nix, to approve and adopt Ordinance No. 129. Ordinance
No. 129 regulates the speed of motor vehicles on Highway within the city limits
of Euless as follows: On Highway 183, main lanes -
1. From the west city limits of Euless at Station 670 -100 northeasterly to
1.650 miles northeast of the west city limits, 60 miles per hour (day) -
55 miles per hour (night).
2. From 1.650 miles northeast of the west city limits, northeasterly to 3.409
miles northeast of the west city limits, 50 miles per hour.
3. From 3.409 miles northeast of the west city limits, northeasterly to
3.597 miles northeast of the west city limits, 45 miles per hour.
4. From 3.597 miles northeast of the west-city limits, northeasterly to 3.786
miles northeast of the west city limits, at a designated school crossing
zone, during school hours and while a portable school warning sign is placed
said 0.189 strip of highway, 35 miles per hour. At other than school hours,
the speed along said 0.189 mile strip of highway shall be 45 miles per hour.

B. From the beginning of the Frontage Roads at Station 852 -32, easterly
0.478 mile to the end of the Frontage Roads at Station 877 -53.5, 30 miles per hour.
The vote i n favor was unanimous.

A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and
seconded by Councilman Huffman, t h a t the City ban a l l parking on service roads
as soon as signs can be installed. The vote in favor was unanimous.
Finance Commissioner Councilman Fuller
submitted to the City Council an interim budget of $18741.79 covering the four
months starting June 1, 1960 and ending September 30, 1960. This interim budget
is necessitated by changing our fiscal year from June 1 through June 1 to
October 1 through September 30. The vote in favor was unanimous.

Health and Welfare Commissioner Braswell
reported that he had inspected the Wigwam Skating Rink and that Mr. Galon C.
Jack had installed the restrosms, rear exit and lights as he had promised when
he appeared before the City Council.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
seconded by Councilman Braswell, that the city pay for making the necessary changes
i n the radio i n the Fire Marshal's car. It was estimated that the cost of making
this change over would be $25.00. The vote in favor was unanimous.

to complain about drainage problems. Street Commission, Councilman Huffman,
promised he would try to get the developers to take care of these places that
have improper drainage.
A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and
Seconded by Councilman Nix, to adjourn. All Councilmen voted in favor of this
motion. The meeting adjourned at 11:00 p.m.
