HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-06-28Regular Meeting Euless City Council June 28, 1960 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on June 28, 1960. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, H. M. Huffman, and Roy Braswell. The council meeting was opened with a prayer by Councilman Huffman. The minutes of the council meeting of June 14, 1960 were read by the City Secretary and approved by the Council. 9 Mr. Leon J. Levltt and Mr. Dan Peters appeared before the City Council submitting a preliminary plat of Park Crestmoor Addition, Section No. 2, consisting of forty -four lots. This preliminary plat having been previously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to approve this preliminary plat. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 3. Mr. Leon J. Levitt and Mr. Dan Peters sub- mitted a revised plat of Lots 17R and 18R, Block 4, of the Park Crestmoor Addition No. 1. This revised plat having been previously approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that this revised plat be approved. All Council- ' men present voted in favor of this motion. 4. The City Council received a letter from Dalwin Development Corporation requesting street lights in the Westwood Village Addition. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the City Secretary be authorized to request the Texas Power and Light Company to install one street light at the intersection of Westwood Drive and Carter Drive and to write the Dalmin Development Corporation that vie w i l l install other lights as the houses are completed and people are moving into them, as this is in line with our usual policy in new development. A l l Councilmen presented voted in favor of this motion. 5• A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that the City Secretary write to the Texas Power and Light Company for information as to progress being made in installing the Mercury Vapor lights at the intersection of Highway 183 and RVI Highway 157, and 248 (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, June 28, 1960) at the intersection of Euless Boulevard and Ridgecrest Drive. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. R1 A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City Secretary be authorized to write to the Texas Power and Light Company asking them to install an incandescent street light at the intersection of Midway Drive and Milam Drive in Midway Park. All Councilman present- voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell , and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City Secretary authorize the Texas Power and Light Company to install a Mercury Vapor street light at the Assembly of God Church at 904 South Main Street. A l l Councilman present voted in favor of this motion. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City Secretary authorize Texas Power and Light Company to install Mercury Vapor street lights at the intersection of Euless Boulevard and Cresthaven Drive, at the intersection of Euless Boulevard and Heather Drive, at the intersection of Euless Boulevard and Raider Drive, at the intersection of Euless Boulevard and Highland Drive, and at the intersection o f Euless Boulevard and P i p e l i n e Road North. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 0 Mayor Mi l l ican read a letter received from Mr. E. W. Smith, Tax Collector and Assessor of the Hurst - Euless Independent School District and Assessor for the City of Euless, requesting that the City Council set the tax rate for the year of 1960 as soon as possible. 10. The City of Euless received a copy of a letter written by Mr. W, A. Elliott, Jr., City Engineer to the Dalmin Develop- ment Corporation giving his approval of the streets constructed in Westwood Village, as follows: Fuller Drive: beginning at the east property line of Lot 1, Block 7, and ending at the west property l i n e of Lot 18, Block 6. Westwood Drive: beginning at the intersection of the north property line of Lot 4, Block 7 and ending at the east property line of Lot 1, Block 6. Carter Drive: beginning at the north property line of Lot 1, Block 6, and ending 300 feet north of the southeast corner of Euless Gardens No. 1. A motion was made by Councilman Huffman, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, that the City of Euless accept these streets as listed above. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, June 28, 1960) 11. Health and Welfare Commissioner Braswell reported that the grass and weeds on the Warren Fuller property that Mr. S. H. Cadenhead complained about had been cut. 12. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that the City Secretary write to Tri- tronics informing them that the City has received several complaints about water they use in washing some of their materials has been permitted to drain down and stand on other people's property creating a nuisance, which is a violation of the City Health Ordinance. This must be abated within ten days or if they are unable to correct this condition in this time have a representative from their company appear before the City Council at 7:30 p.m., July 12, 1960. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 13. The City Secretary was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Bob Brady informing him that the creek running between Midway Park No. 1 and Midway Park No. 2, i s washing out the abutments of the bridge on Mi llam Drive and should be repaired.
