HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-07-12Regular Meeting Euless City Council J u l y 12, 1960 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on July 12, 1979. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Lee Roy Nix, H. M. Huffman, and Roy Braswell. by Councilman Fuller. The council meeting was opened with a prayer 1. 3 The minutes of the the regular council meeting of June 28, 1960, and the special council meeting of July 8, 1960, were read by the City Secretary and approved by the Council. 2. Mr. James Horace Fuller appeared before the City Council requesting a building permit to build a house on a 140 foot lot out of a tract of land in the Alexander - Cullum Addition belonging to his father, adjacent to Tract No. 10 belonging to 0. I. Longfellow on Cullum Drive. Cullum Drive is dedicated to Tarrant County to the south side of Huitt Lane. He proposed to dedicate a fifty foot right -of -way to the City of Euless. It was suggested that he get a Performance Bond payable to the City covering the cost of constructing the street in front of this 140 foot lot and then the City would issue him a building permit. He decided to contact Commissioner Earl Johnson and see if he could make some arrangements with him to pave this portion of Cullum Drive. 3. Mr. Herman Smith, representing the developers of Wilshire Village Subdivision, appeared before the City Council with a preliminary plat of Wilshi're Village Subdivision. This preliminary plat shows 365 lots for residences, a ten acre school site and a twenty -eight acre commercial shopping area. He requests "B" Local Business zoning from the commercial area of twenty -eight acres. This plat having been previously approved by the Euless Planning and Zoning Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that this preliminary plat be approved and that the City Attorney be authorized to draw up the necessary papers authorizing the calling of a public hearing on the rezoning request. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 4. The City Council discussed the purchase of a street sweeper from Government Surplus, if possible. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Nix, that Ordinance No. 130 be approved and adopted. Ordinance No. 130 changes the zoning designation from "A" Single Family to "B" Local Business on two tracts of land in the J. P. Halford Survey, legal description is as follows: TRACT ONE: Being a tract of land out of the J. P. Halford Survey, Abstract No. 711; in Tarrant County, Texas, described as follows: Beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 1, of the Fuller Addition to the City of Euless, Texas, as recorded in Plat Records of Tarrant County, Texas; THENCE South 88 deg. 16 min. east 485.3 feet to an iron pin; THENCE South 0 deg. 21 min. west 334 feet to an iron pin; THENCE South 89 deg. 28 min. west 489 feet to an iron pin; THENCE North 0 deg. 13 min. west 344.16 feet to the Place of Beginning, containing 3.79 acres of land; AND TRACT TWO. Being a tract of land out of the J. P. Halford Survey, Abstract 711, in Tarrant County, Texas, described as follows: Beginning at the southwest corner of a tract of land deeded to the First Baptist Church, Euless, Texas, and recorded in Vol. 2857, Page 98, of the Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas; THENCE south 0 deg. 13 min. west 20 feet and south 88 deg. 47 min. west 50 feet to the beginning point of this tract; THENCE south 88 deg. 47 min. west 289.2 feet to an iron pin; THENCE north 89 deg. 28 min. east 289 feet to an iron pin; THENCE south 0 deg. 13 min. west 297.02 feet to the Place of Beginning, and containing 1.99 acres of land. Al I Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. A A motion was made by Councilman Huffman, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, that Ordinance No. 131 be approved and adopted. Ordinance No. 131 changes the zoning designation from "A" Single Family to "B" Local Business on a tract of land out of the Solomon Huitt Survey, legal description is as follows: BEGINNING at a steel rod for the southwest corner of the J. A. Puckett Subdivision, said beginning point being at the intersection of the north right -of -way I i ne of State Highway No. 183 with the east ROW I i ne of Carter Drive (formerly Euless Drive); THENCE North 0 deg. 44 min. east along the east ROW l i n e of Carter Drive 300.0 feet to the P. C. of a curve to the left; THENCE with said curve to the left, Radius 225.05 feet a distance of 92.59 feet to a steel rod for corner; THENCE South 89 deg. 16 min. east 18.78 feet to a steel rod for corner; THENCE North 89 deg. 54 min. east 165.0 feet to a steel rod for corner; THENCE South 0 deg. 44 min. west 180.0 feet to a steel rod for corner; THENCE North 89 deg. 54 min. east 45.0 feet to a steel rod at the Northeast corner of the J.A Puckett Subdivision; 5 (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, July 12, 1960) THENCE South 0 deg. 44 m i n . west along the east l i n e of said Puckett Subdivision 210.0 feet to a steel rod on the north ROW line of State Highway 183; THENCE South 89 deg. 54 min. west along the north ROW l i n e of State Highway No. 183 and the south line of the J. A. Puckett Subdivision 210.0 feet to the Place of Beginning. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to have the City Secretary write to Mr. Royce E. Wisenbaker and to the First Baptist Church about the request of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Duckett to change the name of Western Drive to Duckett Drive. Informing them that this is agreeable with the City Council to change the name of this street if it meets with their approval. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. E:1 The City Council received a request for permission to place a tra i I e r in back of the home of Mr. Earl Stapleton. This trailer is to be used only for sleeping, and having no utility connections. A motion was made by Councilman Nix, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that this request be denied as it is a violation of Section 6, Paragraph F, of Ordinance No. 28 wh'ich states that "No tent, shed, shack, or trailer shall at any place within the City be used for dwelling purposes. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. a The Police Department while making routine patrols is asked to check trailers for violation of this ordinance.
