McKelvey, Walter A. Cober, and J. H. Lowery, a l l three t r a c t s being i n the A. M. Downing Survey, was held on July 26, 1960. Present were Mayor Ernest M i l l i c a n , Jr., Councilmen Bobby F u l l e r , H. M. Huffman, and Roy Braswell. 1. A motion was made by Counci lman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman F u l l e r , t h a t inasmuch as there were no interested c i t i z e n s present t o oppose the rezoning request of Clark W. McKelvey to rezone from "At1 Residential and "C" Commercial the 16.5 acre t r a c t where h i s pony farm and residence are located, that t h i s request to rezone the e n t i r e t r a c t to "C" Commercial be approved. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. The legal description of t h i s 16.5 acre t r a c t i s as follows: A t r a c t of land out o f the A. M. Downing Survey i n Tarrant County, Texas, more f u l l y described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning a t a concrete monument i n the W l i n e of the Arlington-Mansfield Road, said monument being 2087 feet N o f and 50 feet W o f the southeast corner of the A. M. Downing Survey, Abstract No. 415; THENCE' N 56 deg. 50 min. West, 109.4 feet t o a bois d'arc stake i n the easterly l i n e o f State Highway No. 183; THENCE South 67 deg. 19 min. West i n the s a i d E a s t e r l y l i n e of said Highway 943.1 feet to a bois d'arc stake; THENCE South 548.5 feet to a bois d'arc stake; THENCE East 963 feet t o a bois d ' a r c stake i n the said West l i n e o f A r 1 i ng ton-G rapev i ne Road ; THENCE North i n the said West l i n e of said Arlington-Grapevine Road 852.4 feet t o the Place o f Beginning, containing 16.5 acres of land. 2. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman F u l l e r , t h a t inasmuch as there were no interested c i t i z e n s present t o oppose the rezoning request o f Walter A. Cober t o rezone from "A" Residential and "C" Commercial the 25.8 acre t r a c t j u s t West and adjacent to and contiguous with the Clark W. McKelvey property, that t h i s e n t i r e t r a c t of 25.8 acres be rezoned "C" Commercial. A1 1 Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. The legal description o f t h i s 25.8 acres i s as follows: A l l that c e r t a i n t r a c t o r parcel o f land out o f the A. M. Downing Survey i n Tarrant County, Texas, and being more p a r t i c u l a r l y described as follows: Beginning a t a point i n the North l i n e o f Pipeline Road, said beginning point being 964.0 feet t o the west l i n e o f State Highway No. 157; (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless C i t y Council, July 26, 1960) THENCE West 700.0 feet w i t h the North l i n e of P i p e l i n e Road to a p o i n t , said point being the southeast corner o f the Crestview Addition i n Tarrant County, Texas; THENCE North 1,458.6 f e e t t o a p o i n t i n the south l i n e of State Highway No. 183; THENCE North 67 deg. 13 mind East 759.8 f e e t w i t h the South l i n e of State Highway No. 183; THENCE South 1,752.9 f e e t t o the Point o f Beginning, containing 25.8 acres of land, more or less. 3. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman F u l l e r , inasmuch as there were no interested c i t i z e n s present t o oppose the rezoning request o f J. H. Lowery to rezone from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial, Tract 482, adjacent to Tracts 3A and 481 i n motions number 1 and 2, that t h i s rezoning request be approved. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h i s motion. The legal d e s c r i p t i o n of t h i s 5.75 acre t r a c t i s as f o l l o w s : Beginning a t a point i n the west l i n e o f Farm to Market Road No. 157, ( A r l ington-Grapevine Highway), said point being 929.3 f e e t north and 50 f e e t west from the southeast corner of said A. M. Downing Survey, and being also 1157.7 f e e t south from the i n t e r s e c t i o n of said west l i n e of Farm to Market Road No. 157 w i t h the south l i n e of State Highway THENCE west 964.5 feet; THENCE North 0 deg. 17 min. east 305.3 f e e t ; THENCE east 641.0 feet; THENCE south 135.0 feet.; THENCE East 322.0 f e e t to a point i n t h e s a i d west l i n e of Farm t o Market Road No. 157; THENCE South 170.3 f e e t t o the Point o f Beginning. NO. 183; 4. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Braswell, t o a u t h o r i z e t h e C i t y Attorney t o prepare a notice for a p u b l i c hearing on the request of the Western H i l l s inn Corporation to rezone f r o m "A" Residential and "C'' Commercial t o "C" Commercial the e n t i r e 7.317 acres j u s t west and adjacent t o the Western H i l l s inn. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h i s motion. The legal d e s c r i p t i o n i s as follows: Being 7.317 acres out o f the most e a s t e r l y p a r t of the Martin Estate out of the A. M. Downing Survey, Tarrant County, Texas, and being more p a r t i c u l a r l y described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning a t the Northwest corner of a t r a c t of land conveyed t o Charles N. Applewhite by V. R. F i t c h by deed dated 3-31-51, and recorded i n Vol. 2298, Page 30, Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas, same t r a c t being now owned by the Western H i l l s inn, incorporated; 9 (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless C i t y Council, July 26, 1960) THENCE South 1 degree 04 min. East w i t h the common l i n e of Applewhite and the Martin Estate 735.09 feet t o an i r o n rod i n the north ROW of State Highway 183; THENCE South 66 degrees 39'min. West w i t h the North R.O.W. l i n e of State Highway 183, 432.31 feet to an i r o n pipe f o r corner; THENCE North 1 degree 04 min. West 903.56 feet to an i r o n pipe set i n the North l i n e o f the Martin Estates t r a c t ; THENCE North 89 degrees 35 min. East 400.00 feet to the place o f beginning, containing 7.317 acres, more or less. 5. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Huffman, t o authorize the C i t y Attorney t o prepare an ordinance d e f i n i n g anclprohibiting c e r t a i n types of amusements and recreation centers that are not desirable w i t h i n the c i t y l i m i t s of Euless. A l l Councilment present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. 6. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Braswell, t h a t Resolution No. 34 be approved and adopted. Resolution No. 34 authorizes the Mayor to borrow $2500.00 from the Hurst State Bank, Hurst, Texas, to be credited t o the General Fund Account of the C i t y of Euless. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the C i t y pay, not t o exceed $30.00, for p a i n t i n g the F i r e Department's small truck white to comply w i t h C i v i l Defense requirements. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of t h i s motion. 8. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to pay the C i t y Photo Service b i l l for $39.00 to make the changes necessary i n i n s t a l l i n g a microphone and speaker i n the C i t y Secretary's o f f i c e . A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. 9. The C i t y Council discussed who would be sent to bring the new f i r e truck back t o Euless from the Peter Pirsch and Sons f a c t o r y a t Kenosha, Wisconsin, as i t i s due to be completed about October 1, 1960. A motion was made by Counci lman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that Resolution No. 35 be approved and adopted. Resolution No. 35 designates the Weekly News Texan as the O f f i c i a l Newspaper for the C i t y of Euless. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. Lowery to rezone from "A" Residential to "C" Commercial, Tract 482, adjacent to Tracts 3A and 481 in motions number 1 and 2, that this rezoning request be approved. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. The legal description of this 5.75 acre tract is as follows: Beginning at a point in the west line of Farm to Market Road No. 157, (Arl ington-Grapevine Highway), said point being 929.3 feet north and 50 feet west from the southeast corner of said A. M. Downing Survey, and being also 1157.7 feet south from the intersection of said west line of Farm to Market Road No. 157 with the south line of State Highway THENCE west 964.5 feet; THENCE North 0 deg. 17 min. east 305.3 feet; THENCE east 641.0 feet; THENCE south 135.0 feet.; THENCE East 322.0 feet to a point in the said west line of Farm to Market Road No. 157; THENCE South 170.3 feet to the Point of Beginning. NO. 183; 4. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to authorize the City Attorney to prepare a notice for a public hearing on the request of the Western Hills inn Corporation to rezone from "A" Residential and "C'' Commercial to "C" Commercial the entire 7.317 acres just west and adjacent to the Western Hills inn. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. The legal description is as follows: Being 7.317 acres out of the most easterly part of the Martin Estate out of the A. M. Downing Survey, Tarrant County, Texas, and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: Beginning at the Northwest corner of a tract of land conveyed to Charles N. Applewhite by V. R. Fitch by deed dated 3-31-51, and recorded in Vol. 2298, Page 30, Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas, same tract being now owned by the Western Hills inn, incorporated; 9 (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, July 26, 1960) THENCE South 1 degree 04 min. East with the common line of Applewhite and the Martin Estate 735.09 feet to an iron rod in the north ROW of State Highway 183; THENCE South 66 degrees 39'min. West with the North R.O.W. line of State Highway 183, 432.31 feet to an iron pipe for corner; THENCE North 1 degree 04 min. West 903.56 feet to an iron pipe set in the North line of the Martin Estates tract; THENCE North 89 degrees 35 min. East 400.00 feet to the place of beginning, containing 7.317 acres, more or less. 5. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, to authorize the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance defining anclprohibiting certain types of amusements and recreation centers that are not desirable within the city limits of Euless. All Council- ment present voted in favor of this motion. 6. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, that Resolution No. 34 be approved and adopted. Resolution No. 34 authorizes the Mayor to borrow $2500.00 from the Hurst State Bank, Hurst, Texas, to be credited to the General Fund Account of the City of Euless. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the City pay, not to exceed $30.00, for painting the Fire Department's small truck white to comply with Civil Defense requirements. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to pay the City Photo Service bill for $39.00 to make the changes necessary in installing a microphone and speaker in the City Secretary's office. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 9. The City Council discussed who would be sent to bring the new fire truck back to Euless from the Peter Pirsch and Sons factory at Kenosha, Wisconsin, as it is due to be completed about October 1, 1960. A motion was made by Counci lman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that Resolution No. 35 be approved and adopted.
