BOARD MINUTES
January 7, 2016

Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of
the December 3, 2015 meeting. Mike McGehee made the motion to accept the minutes and Carol Kveck
seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Barney Snitz welcomed the visitor.
ELECTION OF 2016 OFFICERS:
Chairman: Barney Snitz was nominated by Mike McGehee and seconded by Marcia Brown. The motion was
approved.
Vice-Chairman: Allan Gibbs was nominated for Vice-Chairman by Chris McAllister. Mike McGehee seconded.
The motion was approved.
Secretary: Carol Kveck was nominated for Secretary by Marcia Brown. Allan Gibbs seconded. The motion was
approved.
Euless Library Foundation Representative: Carol Kveck was nominated by Allan Gibbs. Chris McAllister
seconded. The motion was approved.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Sherry Knight introduced Cristen Cirrincione, who has been appointed to the Board as Alternate #2.
Sherry provided the Board members with the 2016 Board and Commission Handbook.
Meet the Staff. Sherry introduced Tori Yates, Library Aide. Tori shared with the board her job responsibilities
and information about herself.
Library Events Update: Sherry reviewed upcoming monthly adult programs, including Classic Movies, DIY
Beauty, Geek's Night Out, Make It and Take It, and Coloring for Adults. AARP will be providing tax
assistance again for 2016. The IRS is only providing paper copies of a few selected tax forms. Sherry invited
the board members to attend a presentation by the State Librarian, Mark Smith, in Irving on January 25.

REPORTS AND PUBLIC COMMENTS:
1. Barney Snitz asked for an update on the Christmas Parade. Sherry Knight reported that Mary Lib Saleh
rode on the library's float, which won the Mayor's Award.
2. Barney Snitz commented on the new Open Carry law and asked if it would affect library operations.
Sherry Knight responded that library staff have received direction and training from the Police
Department regarding the new law, and we do not expect any significant impact on the library.
3. Barney Snitz commented on the Staff Biographies and asked how often they would rotate.
4. Carol Kveck commented on the numerous gifts that children brought the Youth staff over the holidays.
5. Chris McAllister commented on the library displays and the number of print magazines.
6. Allan Gibbs commented on the Euless Library Foundation, and encouraged every Board member to join.
7. Allan Gibbs commented that author JoAnn Fluke will be signing books at the North Richland Hills
library on February 24.
8. Allan Gibbs encouraged the board members to use Amazon Smile to support the Euless Library
Foundation.
9. Allan Gibbs commented that the Foundation sent a Books for Troops shipment to Korea.
10. LuAnn Portugal commented on wi-fi statistics and asked how they are gathered.
11. LuAnn Portugal commented on new and upcoming developments in the city.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by
Marcia Brown. The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
