HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-09-1319 Regular Meeting Euless City Council ,September 13, 1960 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council and a p u b l i c hearing on the rezoning request of the Western H i l l s Inn to rezone a tract of 7.317 acres out of the A. M. Downing Survey, adjacent to the Western H i l l s Inn was held on September 13, 1960. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, H. M. Huffman and Roy Braswell. by Councilmen Fuller. The council meeting was opened with a prayer 1. The minutes of the council meeting of August 23, 1960, were read by the City Secretary and approved by the City Council. 2. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City permit head -in parking on Euless Boulevard east of South Main Street, but no parking between the west door of E Z Way Grocery and the South Main Street right -of -way. Taht the City go ahead and complete the ordinance e l i m i n a t i n g a l l right turns off of Highway 183 at this intersection. Instruct the Police Department to have a patrolman during the peak traffic period everyday. All cars must park within eighteen inches of the curb, and no parking or standing next to the highway at any time. Three Councilmen voted in favor of this motion and one, Councilman Ferris, voted against this motion. 3. 4. The City Council discussed the possibility of changing the street ordinance, using four inches of caliche with one and one - half inches of asphalt topping. Street Commissioner Councilman Huffman is to get more information on this type of street and report back to the Council. 5. Mr. Warren Fuller submitted a replat of Lots 2, 3, and 4, Block 3, of the Arnett Addition because these three lots are being changed into two lots, No. 2 and 4, Block 3, Arnett Addition. This plat has been approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, that this replat be approved. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the City hire Mr. Harry Cassell, 109 Tarrant Drive, to repair the hole in the street at Tarrant and Denton Drive and the hole at Dallas and Collin Drive, and inspect the intersections in Midway Park No. 1 , l e t us know if there are any more holes in the streets and what he w i l l charge us to f i x them. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h is motion. 4. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 20 (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, September 13, 1960) W A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to approve the 1960 tax rolls of $8,736,280.00 as submitted by the Tax Assessor and approved by the Board of Equalization for the year 1960. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 7. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, to authorize the City Attorney to prepare a notice of public hearing to consider the proposed budget for the City of Euless for the fiscal year 1960. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of t h i s motion. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, to write the Hurst - Euless School Board that in the future Police will be provided at football games but for police duty only and the school should provide attendants to help park cars. A I I Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. U A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman F e r r i s , t h a t the C i t y pay the b i l l s in the amount of $128.55 that the F i r e Department is unable to pay. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. seconded by Councilman Huffman, appeared to oppose the rezoning rezone 7.317 acres from "A" Sin of land adjacent to the Western legal description is as follows 10. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and that inasmuch as no interested citizen or citizens request of the Western H i l l s Inn Corporation to gle Family Dwelling to "C" Commercial a tract H i l l s Inn, that this request be approved. The BEING 7.317 acres out of the most easterly part of the Martin Estate out of the A. M. Downin <1 Survey, Tarrant County, Texas, described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of a tract of land conveyed to Charles N. Applewhite by V. R. Fitch by Deed dated March 31, 1951, and recorded in Vol. 2298, Page 30, Deed Records of Tarrant County, Texas, same t r a c t being now owned by the Western H i l l s Innc, Incorporated; THENCE South 1 deg. 04 min. East with the common line of Applewhite and the Martin Estate 735.09 feet to an iron rod in the North ROW of State Highway 183; THENCE South 66 deg. 39 min. West with the North ROW line of State Highway 183, 432.31 feet to an iron pipe for corner; e Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, September 13, 1960) THENCE North 1 deg. 04 min. West 903.56 feet to an iron pipe set in the North line of the Martin Estate tract; THENCE North 89 degrees 35 min.
