HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-09-2725 Regular Meeting Euless City Council September 27, 1960 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on September 27, 1960. Present were Mayor Ernest Millican, Jr., Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Ross Ferris, H. M. Huffman, and Roy Braswell. 1. Crum and Biddle Developers submitted a preliminary plat of Oak Crest Estates No. 2. The City Council, after examination of this preliminary plat made the following recommendations: 1. That the lot widths must comply with minimum requirements of 60 feet and must have a minimum of 7500 square feet area in each lot. 2. That property on South Main Street cannot be zoned commercial. 3• That Whitener Road is not wide enough. 4. It was recommended that Rex Lane continue into Cullum Drive, and that no blocks be over 1000 feet in length. 5. That Cullum Drive be set up as a sixty foot thoroughfare with forthy feet of paving, and that this should continue as such to Highway 183. This street should be straightened and become a continuous street and not be renamed Dunaway Drive at the south end. 6. That the Circle Courts or cul -de -sacs be eliminated or reduced considerable. 7. That a complete drainage study be made of the area covered by this plat. 8. Encouraqe larqer lots where it is practical. 2. The City Council discussed the possibility of changing the radio from the 1959 Ford to the existing police radio band, and whether the new police radio could be changed over to the Fire Department wave length, and if so what it would cost. Police Commissioner Councilman Ferris is going to try to get this information from the Motorola Company. 3. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that the City Secretary be appointed purchasing agent for the City. He is to sign purchase orders for purchases up t o $25.00. For purchases in excess of $25.00 he must get the approval of and get them signed by the Commissioner of the department involved or 26 (Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, September 27, 1960) , -- the Mayor. A l l Councilmen present voted in favor of the motion. n The City Council discussed City spending in the new fiscal year as compared with the budget. It was decided that the City Secretary would furnish the City Council with a statement quarterly showing the actual spending for the quarter as compared to the amount set up i n the budget for the quarter on each item.
