HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-11-0337 Called Meeting Euless City Council November 3, 1960 Council was held on November 3, of November 8, 1960, this being Mi l l ican, Jr., Councilmen Bobby Roy Braswell. The called meeting of the Euless City 1960 in lieu of the regular council meeting election day. Present were Mayor Ernest Fuller, Ross Ferris, H. M. Huffman, and 1. Visitors present were Messrs. Royce E. Wisenbaker, Bob Fix, and Patrick D. DePamphi 1 is of the Wisenbaker, Fix & Associates Company of Tyler, Texas, B i l l Pasteur, President of the Euless Lions Club, Charles A. Penny, 807 Collins Drive and John T. Dennie, 308 Alexander Lane. prayer by Councilman Huffman. 2. The council meeting was opened with a 3• M r . B i l l Pasteur, President of the Euless Lions Club, appeared before the City Council requesting that the City furnish them some help in starting and maintaining a public library for the City. He stated that to get help from the County they would need a suitable building approximately fourteen feet by twenty -five feet, properly fixed up, which would cost $400.00 to $500.00. He said that the - County would furnish them 2500 books to start the library and would pay $1.123 per hour for sixteen hours per week on the salary of the librarian. 4. Mr. Royce E. Wisenbaker discussed with the City Council the possible sites for the new Junior High School. He stated that he had not talked with the School Board about these sites. The possible sites available are as follows: 1. A 20 acre tract A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Ferris, that the City cooperate with the Lions Club in every way possible to get the library started, and that the City of Euless guarantee payment of the utilities for the library, and that the City help as much as possible to make it successful. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. said that his company could not affor to build this 4. Mr. Royce E. Wisenbaker discussed with the City Council the possible sites for the new Junior High School. He stated that he had not talked with the School Board about these sites. The possible sites available are as follows: 1. A 20 acre tract out of the 250 acre tract owned by the Tarrant Land Company just east of the 7 -11 Store in Midway Park Addition. This twenty acre tract has been priced at $2000.00 per acre. The Midway Park Addition is now served by a ten inch sewer line, which is already overloaded. To furnish sewer to this location would require a new lift station to be built on this location. Mr. Wisenbaker said that his company could not affor to build this lift station for the $40.00 to $50.00 monthly revenue they would receive from the new Junior High School. This twenty acres is priced at $2000 per acre. �b (Page Two, Called Meeting, Euless City Council, November 3, 1960) 2. Twenty acres out of a forty acre tract in the T. Jasper Survey on dHuffman Drive just west of FM Highway 157. Both water and sewer are available now. The property is priced at $2300 per acre with a $5000 down payment. 3. Twsnty -three acres out of the H. H. Fuller tract, just north of Huffman Drive. Water and sewer are noW available. The property is priced at $1500 per acre. This property is owned by Mr. Wisenbaker. 4. Twenty acres out of a thirty -seven acre tract owned by Fred E. Tucker on Huffman Drive. Water and sewer are available now. The property is priced at $2000 per acre. 5• The City Council discussed with Mr. Wisenbaker the request of Mrs. Emory Morris for help in getting sewer and water to her 223 acre farm just inside the Euless city limits on Pipeline Road. Mr. Wisenbaker said that they were working on this and might be able to resolve Mrs. Morris's sewer problem. 6. Mr. Wisenbaker said that due to the fact t h a t two hundred to three hundred new houses had been b u i l t in Euless in the past year, that they had to rework their base map in the Master Plan, but that this should be completed around Junuary 1, 1961. j A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that we ask the Municipal Service Company to furnish us with the number of water meters they have in the City of Euless, and how many families they do not serve in the City. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, that the City write a letter to Constable Tillery of this Precinct asking him to have his deputy in this precinct living in Euless to confine his activities to civil duties and let the Euless Police Department handle traffic and criminal activities. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. A motion was made by Councilman Ferris, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, that we ask the Municipal Service Company to furnish us with the number of water meters they have in the City of Euless, and how many families they do not serve in the City.
