BOARD MINUTES
February 4, 2016

Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the January 7, 2016 meeting. Allan Gibbs made the motion to accept the minutes and Jim Hamilton
seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Barney Snitz welcomed the visitors.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
MEET THE STAFF:
Sherry Knight introduced Marilyn Johnston, Library Clerk. Marilyn shared with the board her job
responsibilities, her family information and hobbies. Marilyn has been with the library for 19 years this coming
October. Sherry shared with the board that Marilyn's customer service is absolutely the best and her interaction
with the patrons is outstanding.
LIBRARY REPORT & EVENTS
Stats for the month continue to be good.
Sherry shared that the Mayor and City Council will be presenting to the library the Texas Municipal Library
Directors Association 2015 Achievement of Library Excellence Award at the next City Council Meeting. The
meeting is on February 91h at 7:00pm.
Sherry reminded the Library Board of the Boards & Commissions Dinner is February 22 at 6:30pm at the Texas
Star Conference Center. Be sure to RSVP to the City Secretary's office.
February 9th at 7:00pm is Betrayal at House on the Hill for Geeks Night Out, DYI Beauty Bath Salts is on
February 10th at 2:00pm and on February 22 Derryl Harrison "The Art & Heart of Hypnosis" at 7:00pm. The
library also has Legomania Creations, Teen Rumble Games and Art Attack in the Youth Department. Also in
the Youth Department we have Sunday's with Sucha (therapy dog) to read with, and the Electricity Science
Bench from UTD.
Sherry also commented on the full-service Drive -Up Window and the staff bios are on the library webpage.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Barney Snitz commented that he attended a State Library Meeting with Sherry and Eric at the Irving
Library.
2. Barney Snitz inquired about having Spanish language classes at the library.
3. Allan Gibbs commented on the Little Free Library and Smile Amazon.
4. Carol Kveck commented on Sherry and the library staff.
5. Chris McAllister commented on the Mobile Hot Spots.
6. Jim Hamilton commented on working with Marilyn Johnston.
7. Cristen Cirrincione commented on boosting the library on Facebook.
8. Karan Jasper commented on her retirement on February 29, 2016
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
Mary Lib Saleh commented on Mike Brown program at the Euless Museum and the Reception for the 4th grade
class at South Euless School on February 14th from 2pm to 4pm at the library.
LuAnn Portugal commented on city events and Glade Parks.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Marcia Brown and seconded by
Carol Kveck. The meeting was adjourned at 8:OOp.m.
