Present were Mayor Ernest M i l i i c a n , Jr., Councilmen Bobby F u l l e r , Ross F e r r i s , Lee Roy Nix, H. M. Huffman, and Roy Braswell. The council meeting was opened w i t h a prayer by Counci lman Huffman. The minutes o f the council meeting o f October 25, 1960, and t h e c o u n c i l meeting of November 3, 1960, were read by the C i t y Secretary and approved by the C i t y Council. 2. M r . J. T. Reed, president, and M r . and Mrs. C. A. Penry, members of the Euless Recreation Club, appeared before the C i t y Council requesting that they be permitted to use the council room one night each month f o r t h e i r meetings. The C i t y Council granted them permission t o .use t h e c o u n c i l room the f i r s t Thursday night i n each month f o r t h e i r monthly meetings, and assured them that they would be glad t o give the Euless Recreation Club t h e i r moral support and approval i n the kind of work they are doing. 3 . The C i t y Council received a request from Mrs. Royal Harris, 506 John Vernon Lane, to rent her some of the metal chairs t h a t b e l o n g ' t o the C i t y . The C i t y Council denied t h i s request as some of the chairs would be damaged i n moving and some of them might be l o s t i f we made a p r a c t i c e o f r e n t i n g them. 4. The C i t y Council discussed the s t r e e t s i n Midway Park No. 2 where no houses have been b u i l t . Some of these s t r e e t s are d e t e r i o r a t i n g f a s t due to d i r t and sand washing down on them. In some cases Johnson grass i s growing up through the pavement. Street Commissioner, Councilman Huffman, i s going to f i n d out what it would cost t o get some one w i t h a blade, loader, and truck to remove t h i s sand and d i r t from these streets, and to report back t o the C i t y Council. 5. The C i t y Council discussed the dangerous crossing a t the i n t e r s e c t i o n o f State Highway 183 and FM Highway 157 and State Highway 183 and Main Street. information on accidents a t these crossings as we could, submit it t o the Texas Highway Department at Fort Worth, and ask them to put stop l i g h t s a t both of these intersections. The C i t y Counci l discussed s t r e e t r e p a i r s II -a t 112 Dehton Drive and 114 Denton Drive i n Midway Park where s t r e e t c u t t i n g repairs have not been properly made by the Municipal Service Company and s t r e e t c u t t i n g on West Alexander by the Lone Star Gas Company that has not been repaired properly. The C i t y Secretary i s to contact both of these companies and request that these be repaired properly. 7. The C i t y Council discussed two new s i t e s for the Junior High School, as follows: 1. Twenty acres i n the J. P. Halford Survey, belonging t o M r . Royce E. Wisenbaker j u s t west of the B a p t i s t Church. No p r i c e has been placed on t h i s property yet. 2. In Midway Park Addition West of the housing area, as much land as they need a t $2,000 per acre. 8. 9. A motion was made by Councilman Nix, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the C i t y of Euless charge $25.00 on each request f o r rezoning to cover t h e c o s t of handling, p u b l i c a t i o n , and processing each zoning request. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h i s motion. 10. The C i t y Council discussed the h i r i n g of another patrolman i n the Police Department. A f t e r discussion, t h i s matter was tabled u n t i l May 1, 1961. A t t h i s time i t w i l l be reconsidered. 11. A motion was made by Councilman Huffman, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, t o approve Texas Highway Department's request No. 220-~88-60 f o r the Lone Star Gas Company t o lay a four inch I.F. Gas P i p e l i n e to the new Texaco F i l l i n g Station on the corner o f Vine Street and Euless Blvd. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor o f t h i s motion. I I 12. A motion was made by Counci lman Ful l e r , and seconded by Councilman Braswell, t o approve the purchase of a 73 H.P. Scarborough, Fort Worth, Texas, f o r $522.50 for the Euless F i r e Department. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h i s motion. A motion was made by Councilman F u l l e r , and seconded by Councilman Braswell t o approve f o r payment the b i l l f o r $88.05 to the Tarrant County Volunteer F i r e Fighters Association. A l l Councilmen present voted i n favor of t h i s motion. 14. The C i t y Councilmen discussed w i t h C i t y Attorney W. L. Bondurant w r i t i n g and amendment t o Ordinance No. 119 proh i b i t i n g the sale o f gasoline i n glass gallon jugs and containers made o f glass. I I- The City Council discussed street repairs at 112 Dehton Drive and 114 Denton Drive in Midway Park where street cutting repairs have not been properly made by the Municipal Service Company and street cutting on West Alexander by the Lone Star Gas Company that has not been repaired properly. The City Secretary is to contact both of these companies and request that these be repaired properly. 7. The City Council discussed two new sites for the Junior High School, as follows: 1. Twenty acres in the J. P. Halford Survey, belonging to Mr. Royce E. Wisenbaker just west of the Baptist Church. No price has been placed on this property yet. 2. In Midway Park Addition West of the housing area, as much land as they need at $2,000 per acre. 8. 9. A motion was made by Councilman Nix, and seconded by Councilman Huffman, that the City of Euless charge $25.00 on each request for rezoning to cover the cost of handling, publication, and processing each zoning request. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 10. The City Council discussed the hiring of another patrolman in the Police Department. After discussion, this matter was tabled until May 1, 1961. At this time it will be reconsidered. 11. A motion was made by Councilman Huffman, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to approve Texas Highway Department's request No. 220-~88-60 for the Lone Star Gas Company to lay a four inch I.F. Gas Pipeline to the new Texaco Filling Station on the corner of Vine Street and Euless Blvd. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. I I 12. A motion was made by Counci lman Ful ler, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, to approve the purchase of a 73 H.P. Three (Page Three, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, November 22, 1960) J Phase, 220-440 volt, 60 cycle Vertical Siren from E. L. Scarborough, Fort Worth, Texas, for $522.50 for the Euless Fire Department. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Braswell to approve for payment the bill for $88.05 to the Tarrant County Volunteer Fire Fighters Association. All Councilmen present voted in favor of this motion. 14. The City Councilmen discussed with City Attorney W. L. Bondurant writing and amendment to Ordinance No. 119 pro- hibiting the sale of gasoline in glass gallon jugs and containers made of glass. He is to write this amendment as soon as possible.
