Parks and Leisure Services Board
March 7, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, March 7, 2016 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman
Randy Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler,
Jason Reyes, Salman Bhojani, Mohib Nawab. There were no members absent.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Recreation/Aquatics Specialist Kali
Goodfellow and Administrative Secretary Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Irma Reyes
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the February
1, 2016 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and
was seconded by Mr. Reyes. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Jason Reyes — Kiddie Carr Park & J.A. Carr Park: No items to report.
b. Salman Bhojani — Heritage & S. Euless Park: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith — Midway Park & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
d. Roger Sickler — Bob Eden & Trailwood Park: Fence partially down at Bob Eden.
e. John Raab- Preserve & McCormick: No items to report.
f. Chairman Jones — Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
g. Mohib Nawab — Villages of Bear Creek & Reflection: No items to report.
h. Steve Doty — West Park & Wilshire: No items to report.
i. Chairman Jones reported on the following special events:
• Daddy/Daughter Dance — February 6 — Sold out

II. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the March 2016 Volunteer of the Month award goes to Mark
Chandler. Mr. Chandler is the Visual and Performing Arts Director for HEB ISD and always
lends a helping hand when it comes to our special events. Our Heritage Park Christmas
celebration would not be the same if it wasn't for Mr. Chandler organizing all the school
choirs to come out and sing Christmas carols to the citizens attending the special event.
Mr. Chandler was not able to attend the meeting, his plaque will be delivered to him.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Ms. Smith reported the following for January:
a. Total man hours for February 1-29 = 544
• 243.00 Horticulture
• 97.00 Forestry
• 172.00 Greenhouse
• 0.00 Special Projects
• 32.00 Training
• Trimmed historical tree grove at The Preserve at McCormick Park.
• Trimmed back trees along trail at the Villages of Bear Creek Park.
• Trimmed trees along the ponds at The Preserve at McCormick park.
• Removed dead tree and stump at Trailwood Park.
• Trimmed Crepe Myrtles at McCormick and Midway Park.
• Stump grinded a tree at Bob Eden and Midcities Blvd.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Staff Report —Kali Goodfellow
• Presented overview of aquatics program and maintenance of pool.
• Discussed challenges faced in aquatics field and maintenance upkeep of the pool.
b. Recreation Report —Suzanne Hendrickson
• Spring Break camp will start shortly with 28 kids enrolled.
• Discussed upcoming special events, including Arbor Daze, April 23.
• Introduced a new event, HEB ISD Summer Reading Kick Off Party —April 30.
C. Community Services Report — Ray McDonald
• Provided an update of the new 60/90 baseball field at PATS — Legends Field.
• Discussed the challenges with part time/seasonal staffing.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.

ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
