BOARD MINUTES
March 3, 2016

Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the February 4, 2016 meeting. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Carol
Kveck seconded the motion.
WELCOME VISITORS: Chairman Barney Snitz welcomed the visitor.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
MEET THE STAFF:
Sherry Knight introduced Stasha Barriere, Library Clerk. Stasha shared with the board her job responsibilities,
her family information and hobbies. Stasha has been with the library for 12 years. Sherry shared with the board
that Stasha is a great team player, organizer, and problem solver. Stasha thanked the Board for their support.
LIBRARY REPORT & EVENTS:
Stats for the month continue to be good.
Sherry shared information about the pros, cons, and costs of public library wi-fi hotspot lending.
The Purls of Wisdom needlework group donated hundreds of preemie caps and blankets to the March of Dimes.
Sherry commented on March library events, including Make It and Take It, Lego Mania, Art Attack, Geeks
Game Night, DIY Beauty, and Teen Tech Help.
The library will present STEAM Camp, which will offer science and technology activities for elementary
students every day during spring break, March 14-18.
The Season of Sounds music events kick off on Friday, April 1 with Hard Night's Day Beatles tribute band.

Ocean Adventures will present The Great White Shark on Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 pm, featuring a life-size
inflatable shark.
DISCUSSIONS:
1. Allan Gibbs commented on the library budget and the price of discarded books, and discussion
followed.
2. Barney Snitz commented on the TMLDA Award presented to the library at the February 7 council
meeting.
3. Barney Snitz commented on the February 201h Board and Commission Dinner.
4. Barney Snitz commented on Officer David Hofer.
5. Barney Snitz commented on Karan Jasper's retirement.
6. Chris McAllister commented on the TMLDA Award.
7. Mike McGehee commented on a library he visited in the Yucatan.
8. Allan Gibbs commented on the Little Free Library workshop in Plano on March 15, and invited board
members to attend.
9. Allan Gibbs commented on Officer David Hofer.
10. Allan Gibbs commented on purchasing Euless Library Foundation shirts and invited board members to
join ELF.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
LuAnn Portugal commented on city events and development projects in the city. LuAnn paid tribute to Mary
Lib Saleh for her long standing support for the library.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by
Mike McGehee. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
