The Euless Family Life Center offers a number of summer camps to keep your children engaged during the summer. While planning some of your summer activities, do take advantage of the great outdoor movies in the park. You can find out about them on page 5 of this newsletter. We are so excited about our future in the economic development arena. Please read about U.S. Concrete relocating their headquarters in the Redi-Mix regional headquarters on Main Street in Euless. Redi-Mix has been a long time corporate resident of Euless, and we are pleased to welcome U.S. Concrete to Euless. We have two important events at City Hall for citizens to add their suggestions to the Council. The Water Forum on Thursday, June 7, and the Town Hall meeting on Thursday, June 14, to review budget items. (NASDAQ: USCR) is relocating its Houston corporate headquarters to Euless in order to co -locate with the Redi-Mix Regional Headquarters, a U.S. Concrete subsidiary. Redi-Mix is located in Euless at 331 North Main Street. The current Euless facility will become the Corporate Headquarters and a Primary Job Training Facility. Redi- Mix currently employs 250 workers and expects to gain 46 professional level jobs due to the relocation. US Concrete predicts the company will save money and make day-to-day operations more efficient by relocating. The move is expected to be complete by July 1, 2012. City Manager Gary McKamie said, "Redi-Mix has been a crucial business partner with Euless for many years and we are excited to see them expand. Relocating the Corporate Headquarters to Euless will promote new business development within the city." US Concrete was founded in 1999 and based in Houston. The company has multiple business segments: ready -mixed concrete, concrete -related products and U SI" � CONCRETE precast concrete products. These segments service the construction industry in several major United States markets. US Concrete has a company -wide commitment to improve the environment by requiring the use of their developed 4 process, EF Technology. EF Technology is a process that uses alternative cementitious materials that results in the reduction of greenhouse gases. This resource v saving process not only produces greener and more sustainable concrete mixes, but also stronger and more durable concrete products. In 2010, they produced approximately 3.8 million cubic yards of ready -mixed concrete and reduced over 1,500,000 tons of carbon dioxide with EF Technology. Ector Dr. As summer temperatures rise and rainfall decreases, more drinking water supplies are used for outside purposes. Last summer taught North Texas that we do not have an end- less supply of water. Learn how to reduce water consump- tion. Speakers will be there to provide tips and insight into water conservation and landscaping, public awareness and ways to reduce indoor water consumption. This theme encourages chil- dren and their families to explore and investigate books at the library. Record your library investiga- tion by picking up a reading log at the library any- time in June. Turn in your reading log by August 4 for a chance to win a book from the library. Adults can "Get a Clue" too... Colonel Mustard in the Library with a Candlestick? Adults can "Get a Clue @a Euless Library" through the Adult Summer Reading Program June 1 through August 4. Readers age 18 and up can enter to win weekly prizes including the classic whodunit "Clue" ' board game and the zany comedy -mystery movie "Clue" based on the board game. Each book read earns an additional entry. Come join the fun this summer. Town Hall Meeting June 14, 7 p.m. Euless City Hall, 201 N. Ector Dr. Your opinion is important. Summer Reading Club Events Saturday, June 2,- at 2 p.m., is our first special event of the summer. Snake Encounters is an exciting and educational program with live snakes. Our special events are intended for school age children and seating may be limited on some programs, so get here early! School aged kids and their families are invited to join us for a Wacky Science program on Thurs- day, June 21, at 2 p.m. Our resident mad scien- tist will be sharing lots of cool science tricks and experiments. Teens, come meet C.C. Hunter on Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. C.C. is the author of the Shadow Falls series for young adults. She will be here to talk about her writing and her books and answer any questions you might have. Bring your books and have them signed! Solicitor's Permit Euless now requires solicitors to wear an identifiable traffic safety vest and an identification badge. If a solicitor appears at your door, ask to see their permit if it's not prominently displayed. The badge will provide the name and address of the solicitor, solicitor's employer, principal or organization, kind of goods or services to be sold or offered for sale. In hopes to keep deceptive practices out of Euless, solicitors who ask for cash deposits or advance payments for future delivery of services are now required to pay a bond. If the solicitor is in any way rude, discourteous, or otherwise suspicious, call 9-1-1 and an officer will respond to investigate the situation. The Chief of Police can suspend permits if necessary. Tips to recognize a registered solicitor. • Must wear a traffic safety vest and visibly display the issued City of Euless badge • Are not allowed to distribute to a house with a posted sign that says "NO SOLICITORS" or "NO TRESPASSING" • Are not allowed before 8:30 a.m. or after dark or 9 p.m., whichever is earlier on a given day • Are not permitted to place a flyer outside a home if there are existing flyers present • A minor must be under the constant supervision of a person eighteen years of age or older There are a few exceptions to the solicitors' ordinance that do not require registration with the City including: political or religious support or recruitment, and government employees posting code violations, water restrictions, utility outages, burn bans, special event impacts, or security issues etc. For more information or questions regarding the updates to this ordinance, please call 817-685-1500. G Stones Golf Tournament June 5, 8:30 a.m. The 6 Stones Annual Golf Tournament benefits Community Powered Revitalization. The bi-annual CPR event works alongside a number of churches, non- profit agencies, and the cities of Hurst, Euless, and Bedford to help struggling homeowners make necessary repairs to their homes. Euless Pools are Cool Make summer days more fun and enjoyable at one of our swimming pools or Splash Island in Euless. Three conveniently located swimming pools offer residents ample opportunities to enjoy a refreshing break from the Texas heat. Admission to Euless pools is $1 for residents and $3 for non-residents. A coupon book with 25 passes is available to Euless residents for $20. Children under 7 years of age must be accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older. Private Euless Public Swim Hours Pool Rentals Admission for residents: $1 All three Euless pools are available for rent and provide a unique alternative for any kind of celebration. Two-hour private rentals are only $70 for residents and $150 for non-residents. Depending on the group size, additional lifeguards may be required. For each additional lifeguard, a fee of $20 will be added to the reservation cost. Call Heidi Taylor at 817-685-1681 or email htaylor@eulesstx.gov to make a reservation.
