We are so proud to
announce the
GRAND OPENING

orical Preservation Committee has
spent many hours collecting and
assembling the large amount of
artifacts donated to the museum.
The museum is truly a beautiful as
well as educational facility in our

had a part in making this happen.
Summer days and dry weather
continue so we encourage you to
conserve water and electricity and
be careful using your outside grills.
If partaking in outdoor activities,
do wear mosquito repellant.

GRAND OPENING of the

Ruth Millican Center
September 8, 1-5 p. m.
201 Cullum Drive
Come experience the rich history of
Euless at the grand opening of the
Euless Heritage Museum at Ruth
Millican Center. The new museum
will open its doors for the first time to
showcase Euless history. The new
museum provides a place for
residents to view the hundreds of
collected and documented historical
artifacts. Some of these artifacts date
back to the 1880s. The museum
features a military room, a 1930s
kitchen, and a 1940s school room.
The museum is adjacent to Heritage
Park. Heritage Park is a historical area
that features the first brick house in
Euless, a log cabin dating from the
1850's, and a barn made of lumber
from Camp Bowie after WWI.
Grand opening of The Euless
Heritage Museum at the Ruth
Millican Center is the perfect way
to learn more about the history of
Euless. The new museum along
with Heritage Park will be available
for public tours on the second
Saturday of every month from 1:00

Historical Preservation Committee
will be available for guided tours to
answer any questions. For more

9-11 Artifact
201 N. Ector Drive
Last year, the City of Euless received an artifact
from the World Trade Center. The artifact is a
12 -foot long, 6,000 -pound steel beam that is
a relic from the September 11, 2001 terrorist
attacks. This artifact is displayed in front of the
Euless Fire Administration Building as a
memorial to the thousands killed that tragic
day. The memorial serves as a remembrance
for September 11, 2001. May we never forget!

Child Car Seat Check
September 12, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
ITV Euless Parking Lot
1201 W. Airport FuT.
The Child Safety Seat Task Force will be setting
up a check point in Euless. This free test will
ensure your child safety seat is installed
correctly and securely in your car. The National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows
that as many as 80 percent of all car seats are
improperly installed. Many Euless Police
officers are certified in the child safety seat
restraint system and will provide free
installation or checks throughout the year by
appointment. Call 817-685-1686 to make an
appointment.
Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes can be more than just a simple
irritation. They carry the threat of a variety of
diseases, including West Nile, which can affect your
family and your pets.
The City of Euless tries to reduce the number of
mosquitos by being proactive. The city places
gambusia affinis, mosquito fish, along with
larvicide pellets in ponds, creeks, lakes, and
drainage easements. This action helps fight
mosquito infestation due to their ability to consume
over 100 mosquito larvae a day, and tolerate hot
weather, still water, and even common pollutants.
The City of Euless also helps protect residents with
periodic spraying and by monitoring mosquitoes
carrying the virus with mosquito surveillance traps.
The spraying will cover the entire city and will not
target specific areas. Mosquito spraying will be
performed in the late evening while most of the city
population is indoors. Mosquito spraying will not
eliminate mosquitoes completely. We ask that
residents help us take action against mosquito
infestation. The most effective way to reduce
mosquitoes in your neighborhood is to remove
their breeding source — standing water. Thousands
of mosquitoes can hatch from a puddle of water that
is stagnant for at least four days.
Help eliminate mosquitoes:
• Get rid of containers in your yard or keep
them empty of standing water
• Repair leaky pipes and outside faucets
0 Change water in bird baths and scrub them
twice a week
• If you have outside pets, empty their
watering dishes daily
0 Clean clogged roof gutters and drain flat
roofs
• Remain indoors at dusk and dawn, when
mosquitoes are most active
• Use insect repellent with the active ingredi-
ent DEET to avoid exposure to mosquitoes.
Always read instructions before using insect
repellent
If you have any questions or concerns regarding
West Nile virus, please call Public Works, at 817-
685-1580.
