HomeMy WebLinkAboutEuless Today 12/20121011 December
Dear Citizens,
Happy Holidays!
December is a
magical time of
year when we take
special time to
stop and
appreciate our family and
friends. Make sure to hug those
closest to you and tell all of
them how much they mean to
you.
Our city tries to convey the same
message to those selfless
volunteers who share so much
of their time and talents. In
order to show our appreciation,
we recognize volunteers each
year for their service. We need
you to fill out the nomination
form online and help us
acknowledge some deserving
volunteers.
We all know December is busy
but do try to attend some of our
great happenings. The Library,
Texas Star and Parks Department
are hosting fun events and we'd
_ _love to see you there. We would
invite you to volunteer at any
event.
Happy Holidays and thank you
for all you do to help us BUILD
A BETTER TOMORROW FOR
FUTURE CITIZENS.

Christmas Tree Decoration Safety
Here are some tips for decorating your
Christmas tree so you have a safe, memorable
Christmas.
• If you purchase an artificial tree, select
one that is flame retardant.
• If you wish to purchase a live tree, choose
one that is not already loosing needles
excessively. This may indicate that it is
dried out.
• When you get your live tree home, cut
one inch off the base and stand the tree
in a bucket of water for twenty-four hours
in the garage or other unheated portion
of your home. Cut off another inch
before placing the tree in a sturdy tree
stand that will hold one gallon of water.
• Keep your tree stand full of water so your
tree will remain fresh throughout the
season.
• Place your tree away from exits, heat
discharge vents and heat sources such as
stoves, space heaters and fireplaces. These
dry out trees and are potential ignition
sources.
• Use lights listed by Underwriters
Laboratories and do not string more
together more than the manufacturer
recommends. NEVER USE CANDLES!
• Turn off all electric decorations when you
go to bed or when leaving your home.
• Keep an eye on those small, inquisitive
kids when they are near the tree.
If you have any questions please call us at the Fire
Marshal's Office at 817-685-1600.
