HomeMy WebLinkAbout298 02-14-1967ORDINANCE NO. 298 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE HURST- EULESS- BEDFORD HOSPITAL AUTHORITY; PROVIDING THAT SUCH AUTHORITY SHALL COMPRISE THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN THE CORPORATE 0 OUN DARIES OF THE CITIES OF HURST, EULESS AND BEDFORD, TARRANT COUNTY, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE APPO I NTIIENT OF DIRECTORS OF SAID AUTHORITY; PROVIDING THAT SAID AUTHORITY SHALL BE A BODY POLITIC AND CITE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE HATE A14D DE- CLARING AN EIIMENCY. WHEREAS, the City Councils of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford have found that there is a need for the creation of a community medical hospital In the Hurst - Euless - Bedford area, and WHEREAS, the respective Councils of Hurst, Euless and Bedford have determined that It is to the best interest of the cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford and their inhabitants to create a hospital authority, and WHEREAS, it has been further determined by tht City Councils of Hurst, Euless and Bedford that such COMI Ln i t ry hcxs s to i can and should be created and built., and WHEREAS, the respective Councils of such cities have determined that such hospital authority si a i 1 be governed by a doard of Directors consisting of nine members, three of the first directors to be zppolnted by the governing body of the City of Hurst, three of the first directors to be appointed by the governing body of the City of Euless, and three of the first directors to be appointed by the governing body of the City of Gedford, and WHEREAS, the City Councils of Hurst, Euless and Bedford have agreed to create a joint hospital authority to include each of such cities, such authority to be operated for the benefit and welfare of all of the citizens and inhabitants of Bedford, Hurst and Euless; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF .___. EULESS_ . TEXAS: • . There is hereby created under r+rticle 4437(e), Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, a Hospital Authority in the City of EvIlls Texas, and sold Authority shall comprise all territory included within the corporate boundaries of the Cities of Hurst, Euless and Bedford. 2. $aaid Authority shall be a body politic and corporate. 3. The name of said Authority within the corporate limits of the City of Euless Texas, shall be the Hurst-Euless-Sedford Hospital Authority. 4. The Hurst-Eul*sS-bedford Hospital Authority shall be governed by a Board of Directors consisting of nine members* the directors to be appointed by the governing bodies of said cities as follows: Three (-J) directors to be designate6 by the Hurst City Council, Threc (3) directors to be designcte-11 f�y the Euless City Council, Three (�.) Q-fr--,.:Lurs to be designated by the 3edford City Council. The directors Initially appointed by the governing body of the respective cities shall serve until their successors are appointed, subject to the provisions of Section 4, Article 4►37(e), Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, ;.s ra-i existing and as mny be fic rc irizf ter amended. The Hospital Authority hereby created shell have all the powers granted to hospital authorities under the provisions of Article 4437(e), Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas, as now exists and as hereinafter amended together with such other powers as have been or may be granted by the Legislature to hospital authorities. This Ordinance is am ordinance for the immediate preservation of the ;wblis welfare, health and safety and is an emergency measure within the meaning of the City Charter of this City and the City Council hereby declares that this Ordinance Is an emergency measure and shall take effect immediately upon its passage at this meeting, approval by the Mayor and such publication as may be require v, by the City Charter of this City-.
