HomeMy WebLinkAbout337 08-13-1968ORDINANCE NO. 337 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ISSUANCE OF $300,000 "CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, SERIES 1968, DATED JULY 1, 1968 THE STATE OF TEXAS X COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF EULESS ON THIS, the 13th day of August, 1968, the City Council of the City of Euless, Texas, convened in regular session, being open to the public, at the regular meeting place thereof in the City Hall, there being present and in attendance the following members: W. G. FULLER MAYOR FRANK E. DOUGLASS ) BILLY L. BYERS ) HARD XDVXSAt, M ) COUNCILMEN DAN SHULL } DON R. WARREN, M.D. ) and (MRS.) VADA FERRIS CITY SECRETARY also being present, and with the following absent: Councilman Harold Samue 1 s , constituting a quorum, at which time the following Q zs among other business was trans- acted, to -wit: Mayor Fuller introduced a proposed ordinance.. The ordinance was read in full. Councilman Shull made a motion that the Charter provision requiring ordinances to be read at two regular Council meetings be suspended. The motion was seconded by Coun- cilman Douglass and carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Douglass, Byers, X39X 199 Shull and Warren. NAYS: None. Councilman Shull made a motion that the ordinance be passed finally as an emergency measure. The motion was seconded by Councilman Douglass and carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Douglass, Byers, Sai l9� Shull and Warren. NAYS: None. I- The Mayor announced that the ordinance had been finally passed. SECTION 3: That said bonds shall bear interest from date to maturity at the following rates per annum: (a) Bonds maturing in each of the years 1972 through 1978 at 5.00 %; (b) Bonds maturing in the year 1979 at 4.75 %; (c) Bonds maturing in each of the years 1980 through 1982 at 4.50 %; (d) Bonds maturing in each of the years 1983 through 1985 at 4.70 %; and (e) Bonds maturing in each of the years 1986 through 1992 at 4.90 %; such interest to be evidenced by proper coupons attached tc. of said bonds, and said interest shall be payable on 1969, and semi - annually thereafter on July 1 and January 1 in each year. .-- SECTION 4: That both principal of and interest on said bonds shall be payable in lawful money of the 'United States of America, without exchange or collection charges to t 1nc ow-_­r or holder, at THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF FORT W0:'<1H, Fort Worth, Texas, upon presentation and surrender of bonds or proper coupons. SECTION 5: That the seal of said City ;ray be _mpressed on each of said bonds or, in the alternative, a facsimile of suci: seal may be printed on the said bonds. The bonds an(I int�:r st coupons appurtenant thereto may b'e executed by the fac- simile signatures of the Mayor and City Secretary, of the Cit _)T, and execution in such manner shall have the same effect as if 5c::h bonds and coupons had been signed by the Mayor and City Secretary in person by their manual signatures. Printing of correct copy of said opinion on the reverso slue of bonds with appropriate certificate pertaining cher-�tc oY facsimile signature of the City Secretary is he:-oby appro-.-ec a.::,: authorized. f' I� w 's SECTION 13: The public importance of this measure, and the fact that it is to the best interests of the City and its inhabi- tants to provide funds for the acquisition and construction of the public improvements contemplated at the earliest possible date, for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, constitute and create an emergency and an urgent public necessity requiring that this ordinance be passed and take effect as an emergency measure and this ordinance is accord- ingly passed as an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force immediately from and after its passage.
