HomeMy WebLinkAbout1961-07-25Regular Meeti ng Euless City Council July 25, 1961 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on July 25, 1961. Present were Mayor J. S . Anderson, Councilmen Bobby Fuller, Roy Braswell, H. M. Huffman, and Billy Byers. The co~ncil meeting was opened w i t h a prayer by Councilman Huffman. 1. The minutes of the council meeting of July 11, 1961, were read by the City Secretary and approved by the Council. 2. Mr. Paul Koen of the Euless Developers, appeared before the Xi ty Council requesting the following street lights t o be installed i n the Oakcrest Addition: Koen Lane and Dunaway Drive intersection; Atkerson Lane and Dunaway Drive intersection; between Lots 4 and 5 on John Vernon Lane; between Lots 6 and 7 on Martin Lane; and between Lots 9 and 10 on Alexander Lane. Mr. Koen was informed by the Council t h a t the City's usual policy was to install street l i g h t s only a t intersections. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, t o approve two streets lights for Flr. Koen, one a t Koen Lane and Dunaway and one a t Atkerson and Dunaway streets. Al: Councilmen present voted i n favor of this motion. I 3. A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and All Councilmen present voted seconded by Councilman Fuller, t h a t the Texas Weslyan Guild be employed t o complete the Euless Census bringing it up to date. i n favor o f this motion. 4. A motion was made by Councilman Byers, and seconded by Councilman Braswell, t h a t the City mimeograph 2500 posters requesting all interested citizens t o attend the public hearing a t 8:OO p.m., August 1, 1961, t o be held in the North Euless School Auditorium on the City of Euless going Home Rule. These posters to be delivered from door t o door i n Euless, Mr. C. C. Crutchfield o f the Texas Municipal League will be a t this meeting t o talk on Home Rule and to answer any questions and outline the steps necessary to go Home Rule. All Councilmen present voted i n favor o f this motion. 5. A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Byers, t h a t Ordinance No. 152 be approved and adopted. Ordinance No. 152 will be known as the Vending Machine Ordinance. Cost of the licesne t o operate i n Euless will be as follows: 56 t o 96, $1.00 per machine per year; 106 t o 306, $3.00 per machine per year; over 30$, $5.00 per machine per year. All Councilman present voted i n favor of this motion.
