The Texas Dairy Queen Operators' Council, a cooperative group of Texas Dairy Queen franchisees, is responsible for Texas DQ marketing/advertising and the Texas Country Foods system for nearly 600 DQ restaurants in the state of Texas. Michael Clarke is the franchise owner/operator of the Euless restaurant and owns Lickety Split Food Services LLC. Clarke attributes part of this success to the restaurant's new interior digital menu boards, supplied by WAND Corp. The Euless restaurant is the first in Texas to feature interior digital menu boards, with six screens. "We couldn't be more thrilled by the results," said Larry Newell, president of TDQOC. "WAND's experience made them an easy choice, but their level of professionalism from creative conceptualization to deployment and installation gave us a reason to consider more digital restaurants." Rick Engels, vice president of Business Development and the WAND internal creative department, said DQ Texas is "extremely devoted to digital's role" in its success. The WAND Digital creative department along with Clarke and DQ Texas' advertising agency of record, The Loomis Agency, went through several rounds of creative edits to generate the digital configuration. The final product features two feature boards (one for food and the other for dessert), and four more dynamic/animated screens featuring Hungr'Busters, Country Baskets, T-Brand Tacos, Blizzard Flavor Treats and other menu items. After Euless' record-breaking first month, TDQOC is now working with other operators with plans to transition more of its stores from static menus to WAND digital menu boards. According to Building Permit data collected by the US Census Bureau, Parker County improved 83 percent and Tarrant County improved 43 percent over last year's statistics in the month of April. Homeownership remains the American dream for thousands of Texas families. And there are many reasons why, both economic and emotional. Most Texans consider homeownership to be their single best long-term investment and a primary source of their wealth and financial security. Generations of families have counted on and used the equity in their homes for their children's education, their own retirement and other milestone expenses. A healthy housing industry means more jobs and a stronger U.S. economy. In fact, fully 15 percent of the U.S. economy relies on housing. Most of the products used in home construction and remodeling are manufactured in the United States. Investigators believe at least four have occurred in Euless, targeting women. The robbers could also be responsible for a holdup in Irving where a man was beaten after items were taken from him. "They seem to be targeting Hispanic women in our city," said Euless police Lt Eric Starnes on Wednesday. "Each time they have displayed a handgun." On June 11, two men arrived at Stevie's Car Wash in the 300 block of S. Industrial Boulevard and parked in an open bay. A few minutes later, they approached a woman who was cleaning her car, placed a gun to her neck and took an undisclosed amount of cash and other items. Then about 11 p.m. on June 13, investigators believe the same two men confronted a woman at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of El Camino Real Boulevard, put a gun to her head and stole money, her debit card and cell phone. Just 13 minutes later, the suspects used that stolen debit card at businesses in Hurst and North Richland Hills. Authorities believe a woman who is an accomplice of the robbers drove the suspects to the businesses. Photographs from store surveillance cameras at one business captured a picture of her, police said. "We have two other women who were robbed in the city, but they were not able to give us a description," Starnes said, noting those two also happened last week. "But we believe they are the same suspects." Authorites also believe the suspects robbed the man in Irving last week. The suspects were driving a 2003-2006 silver Chevrolet Impala in the June 11 holdup and a 2003-2006 Toyota dark sports utility vehicle in the June 13 robbery.
