This will be the ninth North Texas location for the Charlotte-based retailer that sells fashion apparel,shoes, accessories and home merchandise. Construction will begin in July with the store expected to open in March 2016.The store will be similar to the company's Fort Worth location at Alliance Town Center,which opened in 2008. The new Belk store represents a$10.8 million investment and will incorporate the latest in retail design, lighting, merchandise presentation and decor,according to the company. "We're pleased to be opening a brand new store at Glade Parks to better serve our customers in Euless and surrounding areas,"said David Luoma,chairman of the Belk Inc.Western Division."The store will represent the best of the Belk brand and our modem, southern,style.We look forward to providing the top brands,the best in service and a deep commitment to this community." Glade Parks is anchored by a Super Target and Walmart Supercenter,and construction is underway for a summer 2015 opening for several other retailers, including: Dave&Busters,Dick's Sporting Goods,Home Goods, Michaels Arts&Crafts,Ulta Salon&Cosmetics,Boot Barn,Cato, Five Below, Massage Envy and Kirklands. "The entire development team is excited to welcome Belk to Glade Parks,"said Zech Knutson,chief operating officer of North Rock Real Estate,the developer of the shopping center. Last month,employees began moving in to the three-story 154,000-square-foot energy-efficient building, which will house many who were scattered among 10 buildings on airport properly. "From a city standpoint,we are excited and proud to be the new home of the D/FW headquarters,"said Assistant City Manager Chris Barker. During a recent City Council work session,John Terrell,director of development for the airport,described how the headquarters is anchoring the 32-acre mixed-use Southgate Plaza development,which will include a 137-room Hyatt Place Hotel,an Einstein Bros. Bagels,other restaurants and a U.S.post office that is relocating from the west side of the airport. The hotel should be finished by November,Terrell said. Einstein Bros. should be open in a couple of months,and Terrell said Southgate will also have two sit-down restaurants and a fast casual eatery, though he declined to name them,citing ongoing negotiations. In an interview,Terrell described Euless as a"fantastic,easily accessible location." "We have such a great relationship with Euless. We have been in communication with them about this development for a number of years,"Terrell said. Euless,Dallas and Fort Worth are in a revenue-sharing agreement with the car rental center where each city receives about$5 million per year.The agreement will also include the Southgate Plaza development,which is next door to the rental center,Terrell said. "It is a matter of pride that the facility is in our city,"Barker said."We have so many of our citizens employed by the airport,by the airlines or by other businesses associated with the airport."
