Parks and Leisure Services Board
April 4, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, April 4, 2016 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Randy
Jones. Other Board Members present: John Raab, Tiffany Smith, Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Salman
Bhojani, Mohib Nawab. Members absent: Jason Reyes.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Forestry/Construction Leadman Randy Leach and Administrative Secretary Jordan
Peterson.
Visitors present: Sharon Gooch, Andy Weinzapfel and Leon Hogg.
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the March 7,
2016 regular meeting. Mr. Doty made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Mr. Raab. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Jason Reyes— Kiddie Carr Park &J.A. Carr Park: Not Present.
b. Salman Bhojani — Heritage & S. Euless Park: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith —Midway Park & Blessing Branch: No items to report.
d. Roger Sickler— Bob Eden &Trailwood Park: Drinking fountains need to be replaced.
e. John Raab- Preserve & McCormick: No items to report.
f. Chairman Jones— Parks at Texas Star: No items to report.
g. Mohib Nawab—Villages of Bear Creek & Reflection: No items to report.
h. Steve Doty—West Park & Wilshire: No items to report.
i. Chairman Jones reported on the following special events:
• Concert in the Park—A Hard Nights Day, April 1—EFLCSC—200 people

• HEB Summer Read Kickoff Party—April 30 at Pennington Field 10 am — 12 pm

II. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the April 2016 Volunteer of the Month award goes to Sharon
Gooch. Ms. Gooch has played a significant role in making our Heritage Park Christmas
event as enjoyable as possible. She graciously suits up as Mrs. Claus and spends hours
reading to the children who come to the event and listening to them talk about their wish
list for Christmas. The compassion and patience Ms. Gooch shows to the children of Euless
at this event is unmatched. Ms. Gooch accepted her award, and thanked the board.
III. Business of the Tree Board
Ms. Smith reported the following for March:
a. Total man hours for March 1-31 = 636
• 268.00 Horticulture
• 130.00 Forestry
• 210.00 Greenhouse
• 0.00 Special Projects
• 28.00 Training
• Trimmed trees at P.A.C.S. building.
• Planted two birch trees at Veteran's Field.
• Fertilized newly planted trees.
• Planted over 70 dogwood trees throughout Bear Creek corridor.
• Planted 29 trees throughout park system from current tree inventory.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Staff Report— Randy Leach
• Presented overview of forestry/construction crew duties and areas maintained.
b. Guest Speaker—Andrew Weinzapfel
• Presented Historic Tree Program in Euless.
c. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Reminded the board of Arbor Daze April 23, 10 am —9 pm.
• Updated on the TX Star 60/90 field progress.
• Updated on Glade Parks Trail project.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.

Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
