HomeMy WebLinkAbout429 07-11-1972 ORDINANCE NO. 429 AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE FREEWAY; RESTRICTING FREE- WAYS TO USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND PROHIBITING USE THEREOF OF PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS AND OTHERS; PRESCRIB- ING PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS HEREOF; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND NAMING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS , TEXAS : 1 . Freeway Regulation. (a) Definition: The term ''freeway'' shall mean any limited access expressway or highway within the city, and shall include the entrances and exits leading to and from the through-traffic lanes of such expressways and highways. (b) Use Restricted: No vehicle except of the auto- motive type shall be driven upon or operated upon any freeway in the city. The use of any freeway by pedestrians, bicyclists or equestrians is hereby prohibited. This prohibition shall apply to the shoulder and median strips of freeways, as well as to the pavement surfaces thereof. 2. Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine not exceeding $200.00. 3. The caption of this Ordinance shall be published in the Mid-Cities Daily News, an area newspaper of general circulation in the City of Euless, in compliance with the provisions of Article II , Section 12 of the Euless City Charter. 4. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure to pre- serve the public peace, property, health and safety of the citizens of the City of Euless, Texas, and the rule requiring ordinances to be read and passed on two separate dates is hereby suspended. ITEM IV Council Minutes July 11 , 1972 5. This ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and publication as required by law.
