MEMBERS STAFF VISITORS Marcia Brown - absent Sherry Knight LuAnn Portugal Cristen Cirrincione - absent Pam McDonald Allan Gibbs Jim Hamilton Carol Kveck Chris McAllister Mike McGehee-absent Barney Snitz Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the minutes of the April 7, 2016 meeting. Allan Gibbs made the motion to accept the minutes and Carol Kveck seconded the motion. REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR: Sherry introduced library aide Pam McDonald, who has worked for the library for 11 years. Pam commented on her job duties and personal life. Sherry commented on Pam's exemplary customer service and dependability. The library staff will also be providing access to 3 school libraries each week over the summer. UPDATE ON LIBRARY EVENTS: The library has board games available for checkout. The Euless Library Foundation Book Sale, held April 8-10, raised over $2000. Sherry commented on Arbor Daze and the library's participation in the Kidz Zone. Sherry commented on the North Texas Teen Book Festival. Sherry commented on the success of HEB Reads, with an attendance of approximately 3000. Sherry commented on upcoming April library events. Page 2 Library Board Minutes April 7, 2016 DISCUSSIONS: 1. Barney Snitz commented on the Euless Fire Department Summer Camp. 2. Barney Snitz commented on English as a Second Language classes. 3. Barney Snitz commented on Arbor Daze and praised the event and the new location. 4. Barney Snitz commented on the Great White Shark event of April 2. 5. Allan Gibbs commented on the Euless Library Foundation participation in Belk Charity Day. 6. Allan Gibbs commented on the Euless Library Foundation's planned project, the Garden Lobby. 7. Allan Gibbs commented on activity at his Little Free Library. 8. Chris McAllister commented on the library's partnership with the Senior Center and the books the library is providing for seniors to check out. 9. Chris McAllister commented that it appears that the library has fewer print magazines. Sherry reported that the library is not reducing the number of print subscriptions, but many titles are ceasing publication. 10. Jim Hamilton commented on the availability of library books at the Senior Center. 11. Carol Kveck commented on upcoming Summer Reading Challenge programs and school visits. CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS: LuAnn Portugal commented on city events and development projects in the city. LuAnn praised the spirit of customer service that is prevalent in the city. ADJOURNMENT: The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Allan Gibbs and seconded by Chris McAllister.
