AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A STANDING
REWARD TO BE PAID FROM THE TREASURY OF
THE CITY OF EULESS FOR INFORMATION
LEADING TO THE ARREST AND CONVICTION
OF ANY PERSON WHO INJURES, DAMAGES,
DESTROYS OR REMOVES ANY REAL OR PERSONAL
PROPERTY OF SUCH CITY IN VIOLATION OF
THE ORDINANCES OF SUCH CITY AND THE LAWS
OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.
WHEREAS, there has occurred within the City of Euless, Texas,
an increase in vandalism effecting damage to the real and per-
sonal property of such City, and
WHEREAS it has come to the attention of the City Council of
the City of Euless by such City's police authorities that such
acts of vandalism most often occur under the cover of dark and
in circumstances wherein the perpetration of same is neither
observable by law enforcement personnel nor is such crime known
to have been committed until after the passage of such time as
to render proper police investigation thereof unproductive, and
WHEREAS it is the desire of the City Council to offer a
reward as an incentive to citizens to cooperate with police
i" officers in obtaining the arrest and conviction of persons per-
petrating such vandalism;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS:
A standing reward of fifty dollars ($50.00) is hereby offered
by the City of Euless, Texas, for the information leading to the
arrest and conviction of any person unlawfully, wilfully, malic-
iously, wantonly, negligently or otherwise who shall injure,
deface, destroy, remove or knock down any real or personal
property, any street sign or traffic control device belonging to
such City within the City limits of the City of Euless, and
said reward is to be paid out of the General Fund of the City
to the person or persons so furnishing the information leading
to the arrest and conviction of persons guilty of said offense.
The payment of such reward shall be made by the City Manager
of the City of Euless upon the recommendation of the Chief of
Police of the City-of Euless, who shall be the official of the
City charged with the responsibility of making the determination
as to whether or not the requirements for such reward herein -
before provided shall have been properly fulfilled.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED ON FIRST AND FINAL READING on the 25th
day of November, 1975, at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Euless, Texas.
