day of January 2016, with the following members present:
HURST: Dawn Jordan-Wells, Lorrie Dickerson
EULESS:
BEDFORD: Kathleen Toms
HEB Teen Court Coordinator--Mindy Eichorst
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Kathleen Toms called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. with a quorum of three
Board Members present.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Review and discuss Annual Teen Court Scholarship Banquet Information.
Also included in this meeting were Michael and Vikki Aulie, who are owners of the company All For
G0000000d. They were invited in this meeting to help answer questions and discuss items that would
be included for the silent auction. Vikki broke down the categories of the different items as the
following: jewelry, trips, and memorabilia. She advised that she would bring approximately 22 pieces
of fine jewelry (samples) and also a giveaway gift (worth approximately $1200-$1400). The giveaway
gift is a piece of exclusive jewelry and is raffled off to attendees of the gala who purchased earrings
that included a raffle number. One raffle number is called during the Gala and wins the giveaway gift.
Vikki mentioned she would need approximately seven 6 or 8 foot tables, along with a cocktail table.
Vikki then explained a little more about the trips and how they would need at least one 6 or 8 foot table
known as the getaway table. She explained the trips are good for up to 3 years and will vary from
wine tours in the Hill Country of Texas to St. Lucia, St. Thomas, Banff, Canada, and Croatia-Adriatic.
The last category that Vikki talked about was the memorabilia. This included frames with Texas
History, sports, and entertainment. Vikki explained they are able to handle the entire silent auction
and can accept cash, credit card, and check if that is something the committee chooses. They keep a
detailed list of everything that will be displayed and will have bid sheets available.
Teen Court Coordinator Mindy Eichorst showed the committee the Save the Date cards and if there
were any changes to be made. One idea was to add items that were going to be at the silent auction.
Eichorst agreed she would work on that. The menu was selected and will include salad, baked
chicken, potatoes, and chocolate cake. Kathleen Toms mentioned that the centerpieces will be similar
to last year, being black/silver balloon decorations. There were a few choices for a speaker for the
committee to look over and a unanimous decision was made to have Jake MacLoed, President of
Gray Beards Consulting, LLC. The speaker is not charging a fee, but a unanimous decision was
made to give the speaker a $150 gift card. Eichorst also mentioned that the banquet will be on the
opposite side of the ballroom than what was held the previous year. Lorrie Dickerson brought up the
idea of changing the name of the event from"Teen Court Scholarship Banquet"to "Teen Court
Scholarship Gala". The thought behind it is to bring in some other sponsors and it would still be
benefitting the teens and celebrating the accomplishments of the teens. This was a unanimous
decision from the committee to change this but would bring this up at the next regular advisory board
meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
