BOARD MINUTES
June 2, 2016

Chairman Barney Snitz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
DISPOSITION OF THE MINUTES: Chairman Barney Snitz asked for a motion to be made to accept the
minutes of the May 5, 2016 meeting. Marcia Brown made the motion to accept the minutes and Allan Gibbs
seconded the motion.
REPORT FROM THE LIBRARY ADMINISTRATOR:
Sherry introduced Mollie Snapp, who has worked for the City of Euless since 2003, most recently in Planning
and Development. Mollie has accepted the library's Administrative Secretary position and will begin her new
position on July 5. Mollie commented on her work experience and how she is looking forward to working with
the library.
Sherry reported on the library resource JobNow, which is a resource for job seekers.
Sherry commented on the HEB Reads collaboration activities at schools and the Parks and Community
Services' summer camps.
UPDATE ON LIBRARY EVENTS:
Bad Monkeys will perform at the Texas Star Pavilion on Friday, June 10.
Circus Chickendog will perform on Saturday, June 11.
Read-Out under the Starsreadi
( ng with Sucha the therapy dog) will take place on Saturday, June 18, in
conjunction with the Movie in the Park.
ZooMeez (rock and roll movement for kids) will perform on Saturday, June 25.
Dallas Zoo Animal Adventures will be at the library on Saturday, July 9.
Professor Brainius will perform on Saturday, July 23.

DISCUSSIONS:
1. Barney Snitz commented on the book donation prize for HEB Reads.
2. Barney Snitz commented on Bad Monkeys and Circus Chickendog as being interesting events worth
attending.
3. Allan Gibbs commented on North Texas Giving Day.
4. Allan Gibbs commented on the Euless Library Foundation's planned project, the Garden Lobby.
5. Allan Gibbs commented on Little Free Libraries.
6. Chris McAllister commented on book displays and suggested ways to bring attention to books.
7. Marcia Brown commented on the Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.
8. Jim Hamilton commented on the availability of library books at the Senior Center.
9. Carol Kveck complimented the library staff on their ongoing great work.
CITIZEN AND VISITOR COMMENTS:
LuAnn Portugal commented on city events and development projects in the city. LuAnn commented on her trip
to Ireland and visit to Trinity College Library.
ADJOURNMENT:
The Chairman asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Carol Kveck and seconded by
Allan Gibbs. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
