HomeMy WebLinkAbout22 09-06-1954ORDINANCE N0. 22 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND ACCEPTING PROVISIONS OF TITLE 28 OF THE REVISED CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS; 1925 REVISION AS AMENDED, RELATING TO CI TIES AND TOWNS, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on the 24th day of February, A. Ds 1953,-the Village of Euless, Texas, situated in Tarrant County, by order of the County Judge of said County, recorded in Volume 45, Page 33, Minutes of the Commissioners' Court of Tarrant County, Texas, and in Volume 2532 Page 316 Deed Records of said County, was, declared to be duly incorporated as a Village pursuant to the provisions of Title 281 Chapter 112 of the 1925 Revised Civic_ Statutes of the State of Texas; and WHEREAS, the Village of Euless, Texas, through its Board of Aldermen, desires to accent the provisions of Title 28 of the Revised Civic. Statutes of Texas, 1_925 Revision, as amended, relating to Cities and Towns in lieu of its existing Charter and powers re- lating only to Towns and Villages; and WHEREAS, the said Village now contains more than six hundred inhabitants, wkiich fact the Board so finds, and which is hereby officially determined; NOW, THEREFORE., , BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDEMMIEN OF THE VILLAGE OF EULESS, TEXAS: I. THAT said Village accept, the provisions of said Title 28 of the Revised Civ:fel Statutes of the State of Texas, 1925 Revision, together with any amendments thereto relating to Cities and Towns; that said incorporation shall hereafter be knm'i as the "CITY OF EULESS) TEXAS ", and shall be subject to the provisions of said Title 28 relating to cities and towns, and shall be vested with all the rights'. powers., privileges, immunities and franchises therein conferredm II THAT all or dinances and resolutions heretofore adopted by the Board of Aldermen be and are hereby ratified accepted and adopted as resolutions and ordinances of the City and are to remain in full fofee and effect in all of the provisions thereof until same are amended or repealed., III. 'Ar- ALL of the present Elective Officers of the Village shall continue in their respective positions during the term for which they were elected and until their successors are duly elected and qualified. IV. a THAT /copy of this ordinance, sighed by the Mayor, and attested by the Clerk, shall be spread upon the minutes of the Board of Aldermen, and a certified copy thereof shall be recorded in the Deed Records of Tarrant County; and the Clerk is further ordered and directed to procure a corporate seal for the °CITY OF EULESS) TE" )CASE' for the purpose of authenticating the official acts of the City Council of said City. V. EXCEPT as herein provided all ordinances and parts of ordin- ances, and all resolutions and parts thereof, in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed to the extent of the conflict herewith. VI.
