AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE "AT LARGE" SYSTEM FOR ELECTION
OF COUNTCILMEN FOR THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS PROVIDING
FOR FIVE COUNCILMEN, THE RESPECTIVE TERM OF SAID C0UNCIL-
MEN; AND FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
TH.EREAS, Title 2S, Chapter 2, .Article 9??, as amended by the Acts
of 19491 51st Legislature, page 375, Chapter 199, Section 1, of the
Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, 19`?,5 Rovision, grants to all munici-
palities in Texas operating under the General Laws of Texas relating
to municipalities, an option to select its aldermanic form of govern -
ment, an:. the right to ,Drovidr-� the respective terms of Councilmen elected.
Niow) THEREFORE, BE iT ORDAINED BY TIME CITY COUi,TCTL OF 7t1Z CITY OF
E'T ,S'" TEYAS:
1.
That the option extended in said Article 977 of the Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, 1925 Revision, to elect five Councilmen at large
from the entire City be and is hereby adopted.
2.
The term of office for Councilmen, after the election to be held
in April 1955, shall be for a, i�eriod. of two years. At the election to
be held in Aori 1 1955, five Councilmen shall be elected.; the two can-
didates for Councilman receiving the highest number of votes cast at
such election for the office of Councilman shall serve for a period of
two years; the three candidates receiving the next 1_ighest number of
votes shall serve for a period of one year, or until their successors
are duly elected. and qutalifi.ed. The term of the iuiayor serving at the
time of the adoption of this ordinance shall expire on April 12 1955)
or until his successor is duly elected and quz li fi ed, whose term shall
be for a, period of two year ,-s from April 1, 19,55.
3.
All ordinances or Parts of or- dinances, and all resolutions or -parts
thereof, in conflict hereicrith, are hereby expressly repealed*
