Parks and Leisure Services Board
June 6, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, May 2, 2016 in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Chairman Randy
Jones. Other Board Members present: Steve Doty, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes, Salman Bhojani,
and Mohib Nawab. Members absent: Tiffany Smith and John Raab.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager
Terry Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson and Administrative Secretary Jordan
Peterson.
Visitors present: Gracye Hobbs, Irma Reyes, and Councilman Jeremy Tompkins.
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairman Jones asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the May 2,
2016 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Mr. Reyes. The vote was unanimous.
I. Board Member Reports
a. Jason Reyes— Kiddie Carr Park &J.A. Carr Park: No items to report.
b. Salman Bhojani— Heritage & S. Euless Park: No items to report.
c. Tiffany Smith —Midway Park & Blessing Branch: Not present.
d. Roger Sickler— Bob Eden &Trailwood Park: Bleachers could use new paint.
e. John Raab- Preserve & McCormick: Not present.
f. Chairman Jones—Parks at Texas Star: Split rail fence down in 1 area.
g. Mohib Nawab—Villages of Bear Creek & Reflection: No items to report.
h. Steve Doty—West Park & Wilshire: No items to report.
II. Volunteer of the Month
a. Chairman Jones announced the June 2016 Volunteer of the Month award goes to Kelly Gray
with the Trinity Troy-anns. Ms. Gray organizes all the Troy-anns to volunteer at many of our
city special events. She always ensures that they arrive promptly and follow through with their
commitment to volunteering. The Troy-anns always go above and beyond to ensure the
special event is a great success. Ms. Gray was not present, her award will be delivered to her.

III. Beautification Award
a. Chairman Jones announced the June 2016 Residential Yard of the Month is Ms. Gracye
Hobbs at 612 Live Oak Drive. This landscape provides a lot of curb appeal to the
neighborhood. The large flower bed has a wide variety of plants such as Boxwoods, Cast
Iron plant, Hostas, Liropi grass, and Nandina. The large Oak Trees add a nice shaded area
to the front yard. Ms. Hobbs accepted and thanked the board for her award.
b. Chairman Jones announced the June 2016 Business/Civic/Governmental Beautification
award winner is Stonebridge at Bear Creek apartments located at 2250 Fuller-Wiser Road.
Stonebridge at Bear Creek ensures that the common areas in their complex are always
kept clear of trash and looking neat. The flower beds are colorful and add a lot of curb
appeal to the overall look of the property. Some plants included are Coleus, Zinna, Sweet
Potato Vine, Madien grass, and Crepe Myrtle. Stonebridge property managers were not
present, and their award will be delivered to them.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Mr. Reyes reported the following for May:
a. Total man hours for May 1-31 = 697
• 230.00 Horticulture
• 380.00 Forestry
• 84.00 Greenhouse
• 0.00 Special Projects
• 3.00 Training
• Trimmed trees at Sulphur Branch Park.
• Trimmed Red Tip trees behind Police and Courts.
• Trimmed Live Oaks at Midway Family Life Center.
• Had over 160 hours of man hours for storm clean up.
• Trimmed Wax Myrtles at Wilshire Park.
V. Parks and Community Services Reports
a. Recreation Report—Suzanne Hendrickson
• Update on summer seasonal staffing. Eric Smith is seasonal Recreation Specialist.
• Euless Family Life Aquatic Park opened May 28. Splash pad/Wilshire now open too.
• Summer camp started at all four locations.
• Special events upcoming:
o Friday, June 10—Bad Monkeys concert at TX Star Golf Course at 7 pm
o Saturday, June 18— "Max" movie in the park at Leon Hogg Pavilion at 8:45 pm
o Saturday,July 16— "Good Dinosaur" movie in the senior center at 7 pm

b. Community Services Report—Ray McDonald
• Opened proposals for new 60/90 field and meeting with prospective contractors.
• TX DOT trail project plans 90% complete—waiting on additional soil samples.
• New ADA ramp added at South Euless Park near the bridge.
• Main St. Bridge is closing tomorrow.
Chairman Jones thanked the staff for their reports.
VI. Other New Business
Reminder of no meeting in July.
VII. Input from City Council Members and Visitors
No input from City Council Members or visitors.
ADJOURNMENT
Chairman Jones gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
