HomeMy WebLinkAbout32 03-19-1955ORDINANCE NO. 32 AN ORDINANCE CREATING A PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION FOR THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS, AND PRESCRIBING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EULESS, TEXAS: 1. THAT, there is hereby crated and established for the City of Euless, Texas, a. Zoning Commission, which shall be composed of five; members. The members shall be resident citizens, taxpayers P -nd aualified voters of the City, all of whom shall be appointed by the .Kayor subject to confirmation by the Governing Bod -y, to serve for terms of two years. All vacancies shall 'be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as provided for the original appointmen - s and in the same manner. I`'Iembers of the Commission may be removed by the I',tayor, with the consent of the Governing Body, e.fter public hearing and for cause assigned in writing. The members of the Commission shall serve itiitriout compensation. 2. THE Zoning Commission shall elect a Chairman, Nice- Chairman and a Secretory from its membership and sha11 have power to employ such cualified persons as may be necessary for the prober conduct and under- takings of the Commission and to pay for their services and such other necessary expenses, provided that". the cost of such services and expenses shall not exceed the amount a,propriated by the governing body for the use of the Commission. It shall also have the power to make rules, regulations and b,.,- las,as for its own government, _which shall conform as nearly as -possible �,�fith those governing the City Council, and same shall be subject to approval by such Council. Such by -laws shall include, among other items, �rovisio -zs for: A. Regular and special meetings, o, ,n to the public; Be Records of its proceedings, to be open for inspection 'by the public; C. Reporting to the governing body and th.e public, from time to time and annually; D. For the holding of public hearings on its recommendations. V e THE Zoning Commission shall have the power and it shall be its duty to make and recommend for adoption a master plan, as a whole or in pasts, for the future development and redevelopment of the municipality and its environs and shall have power and it shall be its duty to prepare a comprehensive, plan ordinance for zoning the City in accordance with Chapter 2825, Acts of the Regular Session of the Legislature, 1927, (Arts. 1011 -A to 1011-J) Re C.S., as amended; the Commission shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by ordinances of the City and Latins of the State of Texas. 4. THIS Ordinance shall become effective and be 'in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, duly attested b;r, the City Secretary as bir law provided.
