HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-04-10163 Regular Meeting Euless City Council April 10, 1962 The regular meeting of the Euless City Council was held on April 10, 1962. Present were Mayor J. S. Anderson, Councilnien Roy Braswell, Billy Byers, Bobby Fuller, Billy Owens, and H. M. Huffman. G. B. Surette. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Re. 1. The minutes of the regular meeting of March 27, 1962, the called meeting of March 28, 1962, and the called meeting of April 4, 1962, were read by the City Secretary and approved by the Council. 2. The three Councilmen elected in the April 3, 1962, City Election were sworn in by the City Attorney - Dr. Roy Braswell, Bobby R. Fuller, and H. M. Huffman. Anderson and sworn in by the City Zoning Commission - Warren Fuller, Frank E. Douglass, arid'Ed_Smith. for Mayor Pro -tem. He was elected 3. The following men were appointed by Mayor Attorney to serve as the City Planning and Chairman, J. A. Horton, Henry J. Usleton, Jr., 4. Councilman Byers nominated Councilman Fuller by acclamation. 5• A motion was made by Councilman Braswell, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, to authorize the City Secretary to have a formal agenda set up and closed out as of Monday noon of the day preceeding the regular council meeting night and published in the designated newspaper. The vote in favor was unanimous. 3 A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Byers, that the City purchase a visitors book to be signed by all visitors. The vote in favor was unanimous. 7• A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Byers, that the City designate the Daily News -Texas as its official newspaper. The vote in favor was unanimous. ib4 Page Two, Regular Meeting, Euless City Council, April 10, 1962) 8 A motion was made by Councilman Fuller, and seconded by Councilman Byers, to accept the following appointments as recommended by Mayor Anderson: W. M. Sustaire, Chief of Police; Grover Howard, Fire Marshal; Jimmy C. Payton, City Judge; Bondurant & Cribbs, City Attorneys; Board of Equalization - A. H. Mays, Richard Mi l lson, John R. Johnson; Board of Adjustment - Search Dobkins, Herger Massey, and Robert Brasil]. The vote in favor was unanimous. o The following Commissioner appointments were made by Mayor Anderson: Billy F. Owens, Fire Commissioner; Billy L. Byers, Police Commissioner, Roy F. Braswell, Health and Welfare Commissioner; Bobby R. Fuller, Finance Commissioner; H. M. Huffman, Street Commissioner. 10. A motion was made by Councilman Owens, and seconded by Councilman Fuller, t o approve the f i n a l p l a t of Oakwood Terrace North, as presented by Mr. W. G. Douglass and Mr. B i I I Pasteur of Gibralter Builders, Inc., subject to condition that Mr. Herman Smith revise his plat east of Wilshire to provide one row of houses facing Wilshire Blvd. beginning three hundred feet north of Highway No. 182. If rejected by Mr. Smith within fifteen (15) days, plat as presented by Gibralter Builders, Inc., is approved with the exception of Lots 13, 14, 15, and 16, Block 16, which are to be held until a street is paved through to Wilshire Blvd. Councilmen Byers, Braswell, Owens, and Fuller voted in favor of this motion. Councilman Huffman opposed the motion. The motion carried. Arlington City Engineer, Al Rawlins, was interviewed regarding temporary work for the City of Euless as consulting engineer. Mr. Rawlins stated that he would be present at the ne -t regular council meeting and present at that time charges for this service. 12. Councilman Owens left the meeting at 10:15 p.m. 13.
