Mary Lib Saleh Euless Public Library, 201 N. Ector Dr. The Euless Library will serve as an early voting site for the Primary Election. You may vote at any of the Tarrant County early voting sites during early voting. Election Day voting will take place at your precinct. A complete list of early voting, as well as Election Day voting locations, can be found at www.TarrantCounty.com. Tax Season Beginning February 2 the Euless Public Library will again welcome AARP volunteers to help individuals and couples of all ages prepare their income tax returns. AARP will be in the Library from 4 - 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings and from noon - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoons from February 2 through April 16. Help is available on a first come, first-served basis. You must complete a form and bring some documents to help AARP volunteers prepare your return. For members of the Euless Family Life Senior Center, an AARP Tax Aide will also be available on Fridays, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., during the period of February 5 - April 15. We will begin in March with a spring break mini golf camp on. This clinic, for 7-14 year olds, will focus on the fundamentals of the golf game with an emphasis on full swing mechanics, short game and putting. Clubs will be provided if needed. Northern Texas PGA Junior League Golf Texas Star Golf Course 1400 Texas Star Pkwy We will be offering something new this year for juniors and will be participating in Northern Texas PGA Junior League Golf. This league is designed to bring a "Little League" atmosphere to the game of golf. With teams of boys and girls, form ages of 8 to 13, PGA Junior League provides a structured league environment for young golfers to compete and have fun! This is a great way to introduce kids to the game of golf. We plan to start our season in the last week of May and our season will run for 5 to 6 weeks depending on the number of teams involved. Chamber Expo Friday, March 4 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Drive, Hurst, 76054 Enjoy shopping, free food and drinks at the HEB Chamber Expo. This trade show allows businesses in Euless, Bedford and Hurst to showcase their products and services all under one roof. Tickets to attend are $10 per person. Glenn Walker Bridge Dedication March 24, 6 p.m. Texas Star Golf Course 1400 Texas Star Pkwy On March 24, the City will honor former Councilmember Glenn Walker with the naming of the 18th bridge at the Texas Star Golf Course. Mr. Walker served on the Council for 21 years and has dedicated countless hours in service for the City of Euless. While serving as a member of the Euless City Council from 1975 through 1990 and from 1993 through 1999, including as Mayor Pro Tem for 4 years, he served worthy organizations and volunteer boards such as the Euless Non -Profit Industrial Development Authority, Charter Review Committee, the Economic Development Advisory Board, Trinity River Authority, and the Half -Cent Sales Tax Education Committee and has served on the Historical Preservation Committee since 2006 after leaving office. He was an avid supporter of the Texas Star Golf Course and was instrumental in the visioning and development of the facility. Trash and recycling services will not be affected. * COMMUNITY NEWS 817-685-1400 www.eulesstx.gov Heritage Park Guest Speaker Series March 12 Heritage Park, 201 Cullum Dr. Free tours of historic Heritage Park are offered on the second Saturday of every month between 1 - 5 p.m. This month we begin our guest speaker series with Bill Covington at 2 p.m. Uniformed as a Continental soldier of the late war period of the American Revolution, Bill will display, explain and demonstrate the clothing, arms and accoutrements with which the common soldier of the Congressional cause fought against the troops of the British Empire. Through of his presentations, Bill hopes to bring honor to the memories of the men and women who lived, fought and suffered through the dark days that preceded the birth of our great nation. Bill is an instructor of Social Studies at the Waxahachie Global High School in Waxahachie, TX where he teaches World Geography, World History and U.S. History. He is also an adjunct instructor of U.S., European and Texas History at Navarro College. A native of Fort Worth, TX, he resides in Cedar Hill, TX with his wife and three children.
