Regular Meeting
Parks and Leisure Services Board
October 3, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Parks and Leisure Services Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on
Monday, October 3, 20I6` in the Council Chambers of the Euless City Hall building by Secretary Steve
Doty. Other board members present: Tiffany Smith, Roger Sickler, Jason Reyes and K4ohib Nawab.
Members absent: Randy Jones,John Raab and Salman Dh jani.
Staff members present: Director of Parks and Community Services Ray McDonald, Parks Manager Terry
Boaz, Recreation Manager Suzanne Hendrickson, Leadrnan Matt Shelley and Administrative Secretary
Jordan Peterson.
Visitors present: Barbara & Mike Edwards, Loretta Doty, and Barbara Shelley.
INVOCATION
Roger Sickler gave the invocation.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Secretary Doty asked ifthere were any additions or corrections to the minutes from the September 12,
3016 regular meeting. Mr. Sickler made the motion to approve the minutes as presented and was
seconded by Mr. Reyes. The vote was unanimous.

kV, Volunteer of the Month
a. Secretary Doty announced the October 2016 Volunteer of the Month award goes Barbara
Edwards. Ms. Edwards is an enormous help at our senior center and the functionality would
definitely lack if Ms. Edwards wasn't there to step in! She volunteers to teach various classes
when a substitute is needed, welcomes new employees and helps acclimate them, and
always signs up to help with events and clean up. She is truly a special person who has a
desire to make our senior center the best possible place to be. Ms. Edwards accepted
thanked the board for the award.
III. Beautification Award of the Month
a. Secretary Doty announced that the October 2016 Residential Beautification Award of
the Month goes to Clyde Smith Jr. at 2312 Westpark Circle. The flower beds have many
varieties of plants that accent the property such as Dwarf Yaupon Hollies, Fire Bush,
Indian Hawthorn, Nandina, Fringe flowers and Juniper. The Crape Myrtle trees make a
great focal point throughout this property. Mr. Smith was not present, his award will be
delivered to him.
b. Secretary Doty announced the October 2016 Business/Civic/Governmental
Beautification Award of the Month goes to Westpark Professional Building at 301-323
Westpark.Way. The artificial turf and crush granite walkway draws you through the
property that has many different varieties of plants. Some flower beds include, Dwarf
Fountain grass, Liriope grass, Pittosporum, Penta, Dwarf Yaupon Hollies and a Japanese
maple tree that serves as the main focal point. Their award will be delivered to them.
IV. Business of the Tree Board
Tree Board Chairperson Tiffany Smith reported the following for September:
a. Total man hours for September 1-30 =628 hours
• 275.00 Horticulture
• 144.00 Forestry
• 124.00 Greenhouse
• 69.00 Special Projects
• 16.00 Training
➢ Trimmed trees at S. Euless Elementary School fire lane.
➢ Trimmed trees at Fire Administration 9/11 monument.
➢ Trimmed trees at The Parks at Texas Star.
➢ Trimmed trees on Harwood Rd. medians.
➢ Trimmed trees on Tall Timbers St.

Secretary Doty thanked the staff for their reports.

Secretary Doty gave the benediction. There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
adjourned at 7:38 pm.
